Motivation Configuration of Bluxury Tourism Behavior: An FsQCA Application

Abstract: This study investigates the motivation configuration of bluxury tourism behavior. According to complexity theory and push and pull motivation theory, we establish a framework of complex configuration conditions, including push forces, pull forces, and constraints that lead to bluxury tourism. Based on fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis, we identified seven main motivation configurations of bluxury tourism behavior covering three core factors: physical factors, seeking/exploration in push forces, and in… Show more

“…Planned behavior (Eid et al, 2021; J. Liu et al, 2020; Olya et al, 2019; Yadav et al, 2019), cumulative prospect (Carvajal-Trujillo et al, 2021; Mehran et al, 2020; Olya et al, 2018), and motivation (Shi et al, 2022) theories were also commonly used in fsQCA. Table 3 and Figure 5 reveal the most frequently used theories, including complexity, fuzzy set, planned behavior, chaos-risk, motivation, cumulative prospect, and other theories, along with their respective themes, methods, and contexts.…”

“…fsQCA has gained some traction in recent years (Hsiao et al, 2015). Many researchers (Kumar et al, 2022;Shi et al, 2022;Um et al, 2022) have realized its advantages over standard statistical methods partly because of its superiority in offering reality with insights (Rasoolimanesh et al, 2021). Hence, our study incorporates this part to strengthen the internal validity of the finding.…”
