One‐step preparation and application of mussel‐inspired poly(norepinephrine)‐coated polydimethylsiloxane microchip for separation of chiral compounds

Abstract: In this paper, using the self-polymerization of norepinephrine (NE) and its favorable film-forming property, a simple and green preparation approach was developed to modify a PDMS channel for enantioseparation of chiral compounds. After the PDMS microchip was filled with NE solution, poly(norepinephrine) (PNE) film was gradually formed and deposited on the inner wall of microchannel as permanent coating via the oxidation of NE by the oxygen dissolved in the solution. Due to possessing plentiful catechol and am… Show more

“…Polymerization time of norepinephrine plays an important role in the formation of PNE film, and increasing the polymerization time of norepinephrine will increase the thickness of PNE coating . To obtain good separation for proteins, the effect of polymerization time of norepinephrine on the PNE coated column was investigated.…”

“…Chen et al. reported that the PNE‐coated polydimethylsiloxane microchip exhibited recognition ability for chiral compounds . Considering the properties of PNE film, the separation of rhEPO glycoforms could be potentially realized by using PNE film as the stationary phase in OT‐CEC.…”

“…But analyte adsorption and short‐term stability are the main drawbacks of these PDMS‐based microfluidic chips . Therefore, PNE coatings were used to modify the PDMS‐coated microchip for recognition of chiral compounds . And a stable and hydrophilic microfluidic chip was prepared to separate three kinds of chiral compounds (D‐ and L‐phenylalanine, racemic ofloxacin, and dipeptide) coupled with in‐column electrochemical detection.…”

[39][40][41] Moreover, owing to the similar conjugate structures with polydopamine, PNE promises to be a potential photothermal agent. However, to the best of our knowledge, the photothermal performance of PNE has not been reported so far.…”
