This paper comprehensively examines Antoine Henri Becquerel’s discovery of radioactivity in 1896, a groundbreaking scientific advancement often viewed through serendipity. This case study explores the typologies of serendipity and investigates the conditions that foster its occurrence. A detailed study of Becquerel’s investigations reveals that his discovery aligns with a Walpolian type of serendipity, characterized by true serendipity heavily influenced by unforeseen experimental results. This paper emphasizes the role of bisociation, a cognitive process associating previously disconnected concepts, in Becquerel’s discovery, challenging the view that his discovery was merely a chance event. Instead, it argues that Becquerel’s discovery represents an intricate interplay of logic and chance, exemplifying the Walpolian type of serendipity. Moreover, by examining Becquerel’s experimental design, results, and innovative approach, this paper illustrates that his discovery adheres to the fundamental aspects of the scientific method, albeit executed in a non-linear and iterative manner. The process and context of Becquerel’s discovery provide valuable insights into scientific knowledge inception, progression, and definition, underscoring the intertwined roles of serendipity and scientific inquiry in advancing science.

This study aims to determine the correlation of Problem-Based Learning Model and Discovery Learning Model with students' creativity and learning motivation. This research uses a quantitative approach of correlation type. . The sample in this study used purposive sampling, namely grade 6 with a total of 40 students, consisting of 19 students at SD Negeri Awu Awu and 21 students at SD Negeri Wingkoharjo. Data collection using observation sheets and questionnaire statements. Data analysis in this study used Product moment Correlation Test and t-Independent Test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant correlation between the application of the Problem-Based Learning learning model and the learning creativity of students at SD Negeri Awu Awu with a pearson correlation value = 0.660 and a p-value (sig-2tailed) of 0.002. There is a significant correlation between the application of the Problem-Based Learning learning model and student learning motivation at SD Negeri Awu Awu with a pearson correlation value = 0.834 and a p-value (sig-2tailed) of 0.000. There is a significant correlation between the application of the Discovery Learning learning model and students' learning creativity at SD Negeri Wingkoharjo with a pearson correlation value = 0.660 and a p-value (sig-2tailed) of 0.001. There is a significant correlation between the application of the Discovery Learning learning model and student learning motivation at SD Negeri Wingkoharjo with a pearson correlation value = 0.501 and a p-value (sig-2tailed) of 0.021. There is no significant difference between creativity and motivation of students in the application of both learning models with a significance value of 0.064 for learning creativity and with a significance value of 0.477 for learning motivation.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar antara peserta didik yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dengan yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional serta pengaruh model pembelajaran dan minat belajar terhadap hasil belajar. Penelitian ini termasuk quasi experimental dengan desain treatment by level 2×2. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 40 orang yang terbagi menjadi dua yaitu 20 orang untuk kelompok eksperimen dan 20 orang untuk kelompok kontrol. Data hasil belajar dikumpulkan dengan tes objektif dan tes observasi, sedangkan data minat belajar dikumpulkan menggunakan angket. Data dianalisis dengan Two Ways Anova menggunakan program SPSS IBM 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Hasil belajar peserta didik yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri lebih tinggi secara daripada yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional (rata-rata 86,50>78,40), (2) Pada kelompok minat belajar tinggi, hasil belajar peserta didik yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri lebih tinggi dari pada yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional (rata-rata skor 91,80>73,20), (3) Pada kelompok minat belajar rendah, hasil belajar peserta didik yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional lebih tinggi daripada yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri (rata-rata skor 81,20>83,60). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan secara umum model pembelajaran inkuiri lebih baik daripada model pembelajaran konvensional ddalam meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik.
