Comic Media Assisted SQ3R Method Influence Students Comprehensive Reading Skills

This research is motivated by students' reading skills that are not optimal and learning activities are less active and interesting. This study was aimed at recognizing the influence of SQ3R comic assisted method application to the comprehensive reading skills in the learning process of Indonesian of the fifth grade. Quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design was conducted in this study. The populations of this study involved 248 students and the obtained sample involved 35 students of the fifth grade from the experimental group and 32 students of the fifth grade from the control group. The data analysis was conducted by using t-test and the formula of polled variance. The analyzed data was obtained tcount= 2.700 > ttable=1.997 at the significance level of 5% (df=35+32-2=65); Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected which means there was a significant difference in reading comprehension skills between groups of students who were taught with the SQ3R method assisted by comic media and groups of students who were taught with conventional learning. Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that the SQ3R method assisted comic effects the comprehensive reading skills in the learning process of Indonesian in the fifth grade. This research proves that the application of SQ3R method assisted by comic media in reading comprehension skills has a significant effect on Indonesian learning activities so that it affects students' reading comprehension skills in Indonesian.

The Covid-19 pandemic situation has an impact on various aspects of human life, one of which is education. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a change in the process of organizing learning from face-to-face to online learning. This change makes the availability of learning media for elementary school students in participating in online learning to be limited. This study aims to develop an animal life cycle media using digital comics for fourth grade elementary school students. This research is a media development research using the ADDIE model. The pandemic situation causes research to only be carried out until the development stage. The subjects of this research are two material experts, two media experts and two practitioners, while the object of this research is the validity of animal life cycle media using digital comics. The analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative analysis. The instrument for collecting data in this study was a rating scale questionnaire. The data obtained from the media validity test were analyzed to find the percentage score. The results of the media test obtained were the material expert test with a percentage of 97.33%, the media expert test with a percentage of 98% and the practitioner test with a percentage of 91%. The three test results received a very good predicate. It can be concluded that the animal life cycle media using digital comics is valid and feasible to be used as a learning medium in schools. Therefore, the animal life cycle media using digital comics can be used as an alternative online learning media for elementary school students.

Keterbatasan guru dalam memilih media pembelajaran yang cocok digunakan dalampembelajaran daring membuat guru hanya mengirimkan materipelajaran saja kepada siswa. Hal tersebut berdampak kepada siswa yang kurang bersemangat dalam mengikuti pembelajaran daring sehingga dapat berpengaruh pada hasil belajar siswa yang kurang oftimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media Powerpoint pembelajaran pada topik organ-organ pencernaan pada manusia kelas V SD yang teruji validitasnya. Model pengembangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah model ADDIE. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah 2 ahli media, 2 ahli materi, dan 2 ahli desain. Metode dan instrument pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah metode kuesioner/angket, wawancara dan rating scale. Data yang dihasilkan dalam penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data kuantitatif yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan rumus mean untuk mengetahui rata-rata validasi media Powerpoint pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menghasilakan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis powerpoint yang telah dinyatakan valid dengan rata-rata ahli media 3,6, rata-rata ahli materi 3,8, rata-rata ahli desain 3,6, yang berada pada rentangan 3,01 < X ≤ 4, dengan kualifikasi “sangat baik”. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dapat dinyatakan bahwa media media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis powepoint dengan muatan pelajaran IPA topik organ-organ pencernaan pada manusia kelas V SD layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran khususnya pada pembelajaran dengan topik organ-organ pencernaan manusia kelas V SD.
