The study of Gong et al (2020) showed that the temperature decline from 17.9°C to 15.1°C triggered the abundance decrease in anammox populations. Notably, after 43 days of 15.1°C exposure, the abundance of Candidatus Brocadia and Candidatus Kuenenia increased to 2.5% from 1.8% and 0.12% from 0.03% respectively whereas Candidatus Anammoximicrobium showed no increase, which suggested that the anammox genera had different resilience to lower temperature.…”
