Fulfilment of food needs involves internal and external factors. Humans can choose food according to individual values, preferences, and cultural values attached to them. To identify food choice motives, in the future referred to as FCQ (Food Choice Questionnaire), consists of 9 namely health, taste, comfort, sensory appeal, natural ingredients, price, weight control, familiarity, and ethics. This study aims to analyse the motive power in choosing food for fishermen based on the social strata of fishermen in Bandar Lampung. The research location is in Kangkung Village, Teluk Betung Selatan District, Bandar Lampung. The selection of the research location was carried out purposively considering that the research location is a coastal area where the average community is fishermen. Respondents in this study were 50 fishermen. The data analysis method used in this study was quantitative data and qualitative data. Primary data is obtained through questionnaires that respondents have filled out. Secondary data was obtained by using in-depth interviews with informants, documentation, and field observations. The data that has been collected is then processed using the Microsoft Excel 2010 application and SPSS for windows version 21.0. The results showed that the motive power in choosing food in the respondents, in general, was in the medium category. The strongest motive or reason for respondents in choosing food is the motive for influencing others and food habits compared to other motives, namely the price motive and the health motive.
