Simultaneous detection of water-soluble vitamins using the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) - a review

Abstract: SummaryThe water-soluble vitamins (WSV): ascorbic acid (vitamin C), thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), panthothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine, and pyridoxal (B6), folic acid (B9), biotin(B8) , and B12 are very essential in the diet of humankind. As a result of ever increasing pressures from both consumers and legal enforcers, to specify accurately nutritive compositions of WSV that are present in food materials, many researchers have attempted to fill this niche through the provision of highly sensitive … Show more

“…Vitamins and Methionine analysis were analysed using the liquid chromatographic method (Abano et al, (2014) and Cortés-Herrera et al, (2019). Water samples for vitamin and methionine analysis were filtered through 0.22µm polypropylene Calyx capsule filters and collected in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) dark bottles and stored frozen until analysis.…”

“…The concern of B vitamins for the welfare of human health has been increased over the past decades. Their increasing awareness has driven the today's global health industry and pharmaceuticals market to produce a lot of vitamin B supplements, and fortified vitamin B enriched nutrients with particular concentration on their accurate assays and analytical methods 3,8 . The current knowledge for the analytical assays of B vitamins is based on spectroscopic, chromatographic, chemical, or microbiological techniques with various extraction procedures 9 .…”
