Spectrophotometric determination of cyanamide

Abstract: A spectrophotometric method for the quantitative determination of cyanamide in complex mixtures has been developed. This procedure measures the absorbance at 530 µ of the red complex that is formed when cyanamide and pentacyanoammineferrate interact at pH 10.5 in carbonate buffer. The lower limit of sensitivity is about 1 pg. Recoveries from blood, urine, and soil are 93% or better.
