Steroid hormones, inorganic ions and botrydial in drinking water. Determination with capillary electrophoresis and liquid chromatography-orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry

Abstract: Steroids, botrydial, inorganic cations, and inorganic anions were studied from cold and hot tap water samples with capillary electrophoresis (CE) using UV detection. Identification of the steroids and botrydial was made with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to electrospray ionization orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometer. Solid phase extraction with nonpolar and ion-exchange sorbents were used to enrich all the analytes except inorganic ions from two litres into 250 microliters… Show more

“…Analyte recoveries from nonpolar phases were 70-85% for all the steroids. This was in accordance with our earlier studies [45,46]. The obtained recoveries were also comparable with the study on extraction of diclofenac formulation with ME gel made from caprylocaproyl polyoxyl-8 glycerides, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, and propylene glycol monolaurate allowing the recoveries of 77 and 70% [12].…”

“…Economic development, unprecedented industrial revolution, and rapid population growth have raised serious concerns regarding contamination of aquatic environments by various types of contaminants. In this context, some investigations were conducted regarding the measuring of metals (Fakhri et al, 2018a;Fakhri et al, 2018b;Ghasemidehkordi et al, 2018;Shahsavani et al, 2017;Zafarzadeh et al, 2017;Farokhneshat et al, 2016;Mirzabeygi et al, 2017), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) (Hosseini et al, 2008;Karyab et al, 2016;Zhang et al, 2014), residues of drugs (Avar et al, 2016;El Fellah et al, 2017;Franquet-Griell et al, 2016;Peng et al, 2016), pestcides residue (Amirahmadi et al, 2017;Yadolahi et al, 2012). In recent years, metals contamination of water resources has attracted global attention due to increase in their concentrations, toxic effects, non-biodegradability, highly stable and persistent characteristics among the process (Armitage et al, 2007;Sin et al, 2001;Yuan et al, 2011).…”
