Strategies for effective Web services adoption for dynamic e-businesses

This research develops and tests the consistencies of the relation between supply chain management practices, e-business technologies and operational performance. The data for this research is obtained from 67 companies. The relations proposed in the framework of this research are tested using partial least square analysis. The indings of this research shows the impact of supply chain management practices and e-business technologies have an effect on improvement of operational performance. The analysis also found the existence of interaction effect between SCM practices and e-business technologies, both on operational performance.Keywords: supply chain management practices, e-business technologies, operational performance ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengembangkan dan menguji konsistensi hubungan antara praktik manajemen rantai pasok (SCM), teknologi e-business dan kinerja operasional. Studi ini mengumpulkan data dari 67 perusahaan. Hubungan yang diajukan dalam kerangka kerja studi ini diuji menggunakan analisis partial least square. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan dampak manajemen SCM dan teknologi e-business terhadap kinerja operasional. Hasil analisis juga menunjukkan keberadaan interaksi efek antara praktik SCM dan teknologi e-business secara bersama-sama terhadap kinerja operasional.Kata kunci : Praktik manajemen rantai pasok, teknologi e-business, kinerja operasional

This paper uses single index method and comprehensive index method respectively to investigate the development of a typical rural e-commerce industry cluster-ShaJi e-commerce cluster in Jiangsu province and forecasts its development trend by building growth curve models.The result shows that the overall process of e-commerce industry cluster in Shaji during 2006-2014 was on the rise,with a significant increasing trend in the next three years basing on the almost identical tendency of the two evaluation methods.

Over the years, many organisations have invested heavily in information systems, changing the way they do business for improvement. Today however, aligning business and information systems is not easily achieved due to rapidly changing business environment. The ability of an organisation to change and change quickly in response to business needs is of paramount concern. This means the current traditional approach of adopting information systems is not suitable. Thus, a need of new paradigm to make business more agile and flexible is undeniable. The new paradigm is that taking a service-oriented architecture initiative as an enabling technology for critical business processes. This review paper has identified a distinctive approach compared to traditional information systems, a generic initiative process as well as the success factors of implementing the service-oriented architecture initiative. Further work is required through case study to obtain insightful understanding on any related issues and challenges in order to build better solutions for such initiative.
