STUDY OF ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES OF SAXICOLOUS LICHEN $ \textit{XANTHOPARMELIA STENOPHYLLA} $

Abstract: Antibacterial and antioxidant activities of different extracts of saxicolous lichen Xanthoparmelia stenophylla sampled from Norashen, Gegharkunik Province of Armenia were studied. Methanol, ethanol and acetone extracts of lichen thalli were demonstrated to have activity against only tested gram-positive bacteria. Methanol extract of the lichen showed the highest amount of DPPH radical scavenging activity (~68%). Our studies did not reveal any significant antibacterial and antioxidant activities of aqueous extr… Show more

“…In our study, the tested extracts showed no effect on K. pneumoniae, too. Simonyan et al [42] indicated that methanolic, ethanolic, and acetonic extracts of X. stenophylla collected from Gegharkunik Province, Armenia, showed in vitro antibacterial activity against Grampositive bacteria. In our study, XSA and XSM also showed a good effect on Gram-positive bacteria.…”
