Synthesis and characterization of ethylene‐propylene‐1‐pentene terpolymers

Abstract: Ethylene (E), propylene (P), and 1‐pentene (A) terpolymers differing in monomer composition ratio were produced, using the metallocenes rac‐ethylene bis(indenyl) zirconium dichloride/methylaluminoxane (rac‐Et(Ind)2ZrCl2/MAO), isopropyl bis(cyclopentadienyl)fluorenyl zirconium dichloride/methylaluminoxane (Me2C(Cp)(Flu)ZrCl2/MAO, and bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride, supported on silica impregnated with MAO (Cp2ZrCl2/MAO/SiO2/MAO) as catalytic systems. The catalytic activities at 25 °C and normal press… Show more

“…It has been widely assumed, on one hand, that no comonomer sequences longer than 2 units are formed in propylene based co‐ and terpolymers in the composition range studied here and, on the other hand, that most of the comonomers are present as isolated entities disrupting the PPP segments . This fact is supported by the low intensity of the band at 40.72 ppm in Figure .…”

“…The characteristic 13 C NMR peaks of the terpolymers under study are assigned in Figure which shows the spectrum of T10‐25Pe‐75He together with those of the reference homopolymers as well as with that of the (90/10) poly(1‐hexene‐ co ‐1‐pentene) copolymer (HA 90/10 copolymer). These signals can be undoubtedly assigned from the data reported in the literature about the iPP copolymers with 1‐pentene and 1‐hexene . Table summarizes their respective chemical shifts in 1,1,2,2‐tetrachloroethane‐ d4 at 80 °C and the carbon nuclei that are related to.…”

“…Toluene was used as solvent, MAO as cocatalyst (Al/Zr ¼ 1500) and C 20 H 16 Cl 2 Zr as catalyst (2.10 À6 mol). [18] The reactions were done at 70 8C, using a propylene pressure of 2.8 bar during 30 minutes. The GNS previously treated with MAO, were added to the reactor as filler using variable amounts (0.3; 1.0 and 2.2% w/w in relation to nacomposites yields).…”
