Synthesis and Functional Characterization of MAF-1A Peptide Derived From the Larvae of Housefly,Musca domestica(Diptera: Muscidae)

Abstract: The Musca domestica antifungal peptide-1A (MAF-1A peptide) from housefly larvae was synthesized by solid-phase synthesis technique, and antiviral, antioxidant, and antifungal properties were evaluated in this study. Present results indicated that it could significantly inhibit the infection of influenza virus HN, Autographa californica multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV), and Bombyx mori nuclear polyhydrosis virus (BmNPV), which displayed excellent virucidal activities. Antioxidant results demonstrated t… Show more

“…Zhou et al revealed that the antifungal peptide-1A from HL has excellent antiviral activities and antifungal activities. 43 The antifungal peptide-1 identied in this study may be one of the material basis for HL to exert its antibacterial effect. In order to carry out further in-depth research, we published its peptide sequences (Table 2).…”

“…Superoxide anion scavenging capacity was carried out with reference to the method by Zhou et al (). First, the mixed reaction solution contained the protein samples (1 mL, 0.0625, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg/mL), phenazine‐methosulfate (1 mL, 30 μM), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (1 mL, 338 μM), and nitroblue tetrazolium (1 mL, 72 μM) in PBS buffer (0.1 M, pH 7.4).…”
