Synthesis Of Air Stable Copper Nanoparticles And Their Use In Catalysis

Abstract: The undertaken study describes synthesis of air resistant copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) in an aqueous phase using sodium borohydride as a reducing agent via chemical reduction method. The hydrosol has resistant to oxidation by atmospheric oxygen for several days. The air stability was induced by capping Cu NPs with anionic surfactant "sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)". Ascorbic acid was used as an antioxidant. These Cu NPs were characterized by ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy, which contributed towards t… Show more

“…On the other hand, one diffraction peak was indexed to cuprous oxide (Cu 2 O) having a corresponding peak (220) at 2h value of 60.5°. The presence of Cu 2 O indicates the partial oxidation of Cu NPs with dissolved oxygen in the solution [25,26]. These oxides, which are members of copper compounds family, also attribute to antibacterial mechanism and potential advantage in dental industry.…”

“…3 NPs have a large surface area to volume ratio, which makes them particularly useful for catalytic and microbicide purposes, in industrial settings. [4][5][6][7] Currently, metallic NPs are produced by reducing noble metals such as silver, 1 gold, 8 copper, 9 zinc 10 and titanium, 11 among others.…”
