This study aimed to describe the efforts of Pesantren Nurul Jadid to implement of Hasan al-Banna's thought about Three Matra of education, namely the education of mind, body, and heart (qalb), in constructing students’ characters at Pesantren Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo East Java. This research used a qualitative method of case study type. The results showed that; pesantren has implemented Three Matra by delivering education for mind, body, and heart for its santri. It has set the moto which is in line with Hasan al Banna's thought in building the character of students. It is supported by its vision and mission which was described in the trilogy of students and five/panca awareness of students, education and learning activity, habituation, making of regulation as the norm of binding and organizing activity students.

This paper is motivated by a study of the theory of experts related to character education, character meaning, cultural and cultural characteristics of human and community resources. The social problems faced by the nation today are character degradation. Systems in the digitization era will trigger changes in the basic needs fulfillment according to its characteristics are mobile, plural, competitive. Writing in the development of aspects of personality, attitudes, values, behavior and morals. The results of the discussion that this situation makes the condition of society experience metamorphosis towards open society, therefore education, should involve five human needs (human needs), namely "need for self-actualization, needs for meaning, social needs, aesthetic needs, and survival needs). This shows, that aesthetic needs are seen as an essential part, so it is important to be implemented in the world of education, because education is all human efforts to improve his personality by fostering his personal potential, namely spiritual (thought, intention, feeling, copyright and conscience) and physical and skills). Because the meaning can realign the mindset and concepts of education so that they are in accordance with their basic goals but still dynamically follow the needs of the community.

Symbols of Begalan tradition in Banyumas have numbers of great values for the development of character education (PPK). The problems arise later are 1) how is the tradition of begalan in Banyumas ?, 2) how are the values of character education development implemented in the symbols of the Begalan tradition in Banyumas? This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data obtained were the symbols of the Begalan tradition in Banyumas district. The data collection techniques determined was observation and interview techniques. The observation technique was carried out to see directly how the Begalan tradition in Banyumas was performed. The interview technique was conducted to see how the origin and response of the people who carried out and saw the performances of the Begalan tradition in Banyumas. Data analysis was conducted by describing the symbols of the Begalan tradition in Banyumas and explaining the character values available in the Begalan tradition symbols. The results of the study indicated that there were some values of the symbols of the Begalan tradition in Banyumas which could be utilized to develop character education. Character values presented in the symbols of the Begalan tradition were 1) religious, 2) honest, 3) tolerance, 4) discipline, 5) hard work, 6) creative, 7) independent, 8) democratic, 9) nationalism, 10) respecting achievement, 11) friendly/communicative, 12) peace-loving, 13) environment care, 14) social care, and 15) responsible.
