This research aimed to describe the development of scientific writing model based on PARMI. The stages included: creating prototypes; and developing models through four stages, focus group discussions, experts’ considerations, limited trials, and extensive trials. The research involved students and lecturers from STAIB (Islamic Bunga Bangsa Institute), STAIC (Islamic Institute of Cirebon), STAIMA (Islamic Institute of Ma’had Ali), and ISIF (Fahmina Institute of Islamic Studies) between July and December 2014. In these model included a philosophical foundation, either a concept or a principal; its application; and its effects. It finds that based on expert judgment, this model is feasible to be developed and piloted. The results of the limited trials provide some improvement, especially on the application of PARMI. Based on the results of extensive trials it can be concluded that PARMI can improve students’ ability in scientific writing.
President Joko Widodo opens communication with Indonesian citizens through vlogs.Through the vlog, every citizen of Indonesia can convey various problems directly to President Joko Widodo and answers directly, as well. This paper aims to describe the politeness principles and strategies in the language used by President Joko Widodo when answering various questions from citizens of Indonesia who ask through a vlog entitled #JOKOWIMENJAWAB. The theoretical basis used is the principle of politeness from Brown and Levinson. The data source in this paper is vlog #JOKOWIMENJAWAB, while the data in this paper is the speech act of President Joko Widodo when answering questions via vlog. The data in this paper was collected by using listening and noting methods, whereas the data analysis used a pragmatics approach. The results of the data analysis obtained that President Joko Widodo in his speaking used a strategy that reflects the character of a head of state, namely, maintaining politeness in order to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts that arise. President Joko Widodo's utterances used numerous politeness strategies that contain strong illocution and per locution force for the hearer (the citizens).
This research is aimed at describing teachers' and students' needs in terms of character education based on fairy-tale textbook development. It is intended to discover the level of junior high teachers' and students' needs regarding textbooks, especially in Semarang regency. The method used is qualitative-descriptive research. The data collection was conducted by carrying out interviews, observation, questionnaires, and analyses. Data analysis was an interactive-cycle model through a data presentation and a conclusion. The results showed that the teachers and students in junior high schools need sufficient character education based on fairy-tale textbooks, which requires the following aspects: content, presentation, language and readability, and graphics. Based on the findings, it is suggested that the availability of character education based on fairy-tale textbooks for teachers and students in junior high schools in Semarang needs developing.
Need of TISOL learning have been concerned, but until now there aren't a based curriculum. Therefore, learning material of TISOL learning which used still be separated with culture integration. This research have aim to develop learning material based on Javanese culture to foreign student in Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta. The newest issues of this study is integration of Javanese culture to TISOL learning material using thematic-integrative approach. This research is Research and Development (R&D) which conducted in various TISOL institutions in Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta. Product of this research is learning materials based on Javanese culture. Learning materials based on Javanese culture from this research have excellent point in every theme which explain some of Javanese culture unsure, so that the TISOL student have a comprehensive illustration about Javanese culture. Themes which develop in this learning material that are, (1) friendship, (2) Javanese new year, (3) Javanese traditional costume, (4) Javanese culinary, (5) Javanese house and environment, (6) praying place, (7) Javanese weeding, (8) Mall and traditional market, (9) transportation, (10) Javanese dance, (11) Javanese traditional playing, and (12) Javanese music.
