Abstract. Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a group of eye symptoms caused by prolonged use of gadgets. One way to relieve CVS symptoms is to follow the 20-20-20 rule, which aim to rest your eyes for 20 seconds while looking at an object 20 feet away after every 20 minutes staring at screen. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused learning at FK Unisba to be carried out using hybrid method using gadgets. This study aims to see the effect of the 20-20-20 rule intervention on the occurrence of CVS in four categories CVS symptoms, which is internal and external ocular symptoms, visual symptoms, and musculoskeletal symptoms on Unisba medical students’ batch 2021 during hybrid learning. The sample was selected using non-probability sampling with consecutive sampling with a total of 106 students as subjects. The method used is quasi-experimental in the form of one group pre-test post-test design. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test questionnaires which consisted of 13 CVS complaints in four category symptoms. The Wilcoxon test was carried out with a significance (α=0.05). The results showed that there was a difference in the average CVS score before and after intervention in the four categories of CVS symptoms which is internal and external ocular, visual, and musculoskeletal symptoms (P value respectively (0,00), (0,00), (0,03), (0,00)), This is possible because the 20-20-20 rule can help relax eye muscles and prevent continuous eye accommodation. This study found that there was an effect of the 20-20-20 rule intervention on reducing the incidence of CVS.
Abstrak. Computer vision syndrome (CVS) merupakan kumpulan gejala mata akibat penggunaan gawai berkepanjangan. Salah satu cara meredakan keluhan CVS dengan melakukan aturan 20-20-20, yaitu mengistirahatkan mata selama 20 detik sambil melihat objek sejauh 20 kaki setelah setiap 20 menit menatap layar.
