The inducing of caspase and Bcl-2 pathway with royal jelly decreases the muscle tissue damage exposed with fluoride in rats

Abstract: Graphical abstract In this study, 42 Wistar albino male rats ( n = 42, 8 weeks old) were used. Rats were divided into 6 groups and 7 rats included each group. Groups: (i) Control group: Standard diet; (ii) RJ (royal jelly) group: Standard diet + royal jelly; (iii) F50 group: Standard diet + 50 mg/kg fluoride; (iv): F100 group: Standard diet + 100 mg/kg fluoride; (v) F50+RJ group: Standard diet + 50 mg/kg fluoride + royal jelly; (vi): F100+RJ group: Standard diet + 100 mg/kg fl… Show more

“…The findings of quantitative real-time PCR displayed that the expression level of Bcl2 was considerably ( p < 0.05) downregulated in the tumor after treatment of the EST-suffering mice with RJ at the doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg, respectively. Similarly, Aslan et al and Ali et al, have demonstrated that royal jelly elevates the caspase and Bcl-2 expression level and subsequently declined the muscle tissue injury induced with fluoride in rats [ 56 , 57 ].…”

“…On the other hand, inflammatory factors are also important. TNF-α can promote apoptosis by increasing caspase (44). However, the anti-inflammatory effects of exercise and resveratrol on reducing TNF-α have been reported as well (43).…”

“…Group 3 (glucocorticoid + ALA treated group): Rats were injected with methyl-prednisolone in the same dose as the previous group for 2 months, the rats were administrated simultaneously with ALA solution with a gastric tube in a dose of 100mg/kg/day for the same period (11) . Group 4 (glucocorticoid + Royal jelly treated group): Rats were injected with methyl-prednisolone in the same dose as group II, and were fed by gastric tube with RJ in a dosage of 100mg/kg B.W per day simultaneously (13). One day after the last dose, rats of all studied groups were anesthetized with intraperitoneal injection of sodium thiopental 200mg/kg BW (14) Then, the shaft of the femur of all animals was cautiously dissected and handled for histological studies.…”
