The widespread use of digital technologies and the expansion of social networks has created new communication and meeting spaces where people and social and political actors connect with each other. This opens diverse spaces and possibilities for digital engagement in a more accessible, immediate, continuous, egalitarian, and personalized way. Digital technology facilitates learning, dissemination, and access to information, turning it into a means of communication and fueling the practice of critical thinking. In particular civic critical thinking practices improve the organization and effectiveness of civic networks and spaces for citizen participation, ultimately helping to produce responsible, conscious citizens. This study proposes a series of hypotheses based on the relationships between digital learning, critical thinking and civic participation, and tests them using the technique of structural equation modeling (SEM) with partial least squares (PLS) applied to a sample of 191 primary and secondary school students. The results indicate that digital tools have a positive impact on the development of critical thinking, and this influences citizen participation, transforming people into more engaged citizens of the world with participatory attitudes and values.

The 21st century requires several skills to deal with today's problems, including critical thinking and problemsolving skills. Distance learning was applied in order to avoid the transmission of Covid-19. Distance learning causes students to learn contextually from the environment directly. This article discusses the potential of contextual learning through distance learning to be applied during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is belong to literature review to answer the problems about: 1) how contextual learning contributes to improving critical thinking and problem solving skills, and 2) how contextual learning is carried out through distancelearning. The results showed that the learning components including constructivism, inquiry, questioning, community learning, modelling, reflection, and authentic assessment can empower critical thinking core skills as well as problem solving skills. In implementing contextual distance learning must pay attention on several things: the method used must develop deep thinking skills, using synchronous and asynchronous media according to student characteristics, using learning resources by design and by utilization, maintaining the best possible communication between class members, and making clear guidance about the learning activities carried out by students.

Kebutuhan Mahasiswa Terhadap Video Kontekstual sebagai Media Pembelajaran Pada Masa Pandemi COVID-19

Kebutuhan terhadap media pembelajaran di masa COVID-19 tidak terhindarkan sebagai alat bantu dalam proses penyampaian informasi kepada mahasiswa. Salah satu media pembelajaran audio visual yang memuat konsep-konsep nyata dalam kehidupan sehari-hari adalah video kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan mahasiswa terhadap video pembelajaran kontekstual pada masa pandemi COVID-19. Metode survey dilakukan pada penelitian ini dengan menyebarkan kuesioner online kepada 180 mahasiswa FKIP UIR yang berasal dari enam program studi yaitu: PGSD, Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Pendidikan Matematika, Pendidikan Biologi dan Pendidikan Matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh mahasiswa menyatakan kebutuhannya terhadap media pembelajaran, 99% menyatakan bahwa dosen perlu merancang media pembelajarannya sendiri, 84% menyatakan bahwa video kontekstual cocok digunakan dalam mengajarkan materi kuliah dan 97% mengungkapkan bahwa konsep kontekstual perlu dintegrasikan dalam bentuk video, serta 98% membutuhkan video kontekstual. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi informasi bagi para pendidik dalam mengunakan atau merancang media pada masa pandemi COVID-19.
