The Study of Adaptive Planning Application for LNG Regasification Terminal Infrastructure in Indonesia

Abstract: Global trade for regasification LNG has reached 850.1 MTPA by February 2021 because of the enforcement of clean energy applications. The alternative of renewable energy such as hydropower, solar, and wind has developed globally, but they have not been implemented effectively in Indonesia. LNG became an alternative to clean energy because of its low carbon emissions. An estimated 26% of the 35,000 MW of Indonesia’s electricity supply project comes from natural gas-powered power plants. The scope of this study i… Show more

“…The first initiative that can be taken is to develop the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) to maintain the reliability of the natural gas distribution system as a substitution for the existing pipelines on land. When a supply disruption exists, the FSRU can distribute LNG to the receiving station for a gas power plant so that it can maintain the supply of natural gas as needed 63 .…”

“…The Engineering Asset Management should be aligned with the portfolio business of its organisation and follow the market trend. Figure 4 shows the Ansoff Matrix [18] below shows how the LNG industry reacted to the market volatility and rapid changes on the supply and demand side. Bunkering businesses and renewable energy are two alternatives for diversification in the LNG business market; thus, examining the available option for alternative transportation fuels becomes crucial.…”

“…Decision-making in the analysis of selecting a medium-scale LNG regasification terminal using real options analysis has been conducted. The concept of FSRU is chosen as the most suitable configuration compared to FRU, FSU, and onshore regasification terminals in Indonesia [7]. According to research conducted by Bulte, FSRU terminals are mentioned to be cheaper than onshore terminals in terms of price and cost, but more expensive than natural gas pipelines.…”
