Unusual Root Canal Irrigation Solutions

Abstract: Microorganisms and their by-products play a critical role in pulp and periradicular pathosis. Therefore, one of the main purposes of root canal treatment is disinfection of the entire system of the canal. This aim may be obtained using mechanical preparation, chemical irrigation, and temporary medication of the canal. For this purpose, various irrigation solutions have been advocated. Common root canal irrigants, such as sodium hypochlorite, chlorhexidine, and a mixture of tetracycline, acid, and detergent hav… Show more

“…Ademais, esse processo de ozonização requer uma combinação precisa de fatores como pH, fluxo de oxigênio e tempo no difusor. A água ozonizada é altamente valorizada em tratamentos clínicos odontológicos devido às suas propriedades antibacterianas, facilidade de aplicação e biocompatibilidade com tecidos humanos (Mohammadi, et al, 2017).…”

“…Another issue that has gained the attention of many researchers, is the adverse effects exerted by some of the most commonly used root canal irrigants like, sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), calcium hydroxide paste, ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA), and chlorhexidine gluconate solution (CHX) on dentin mineral composition [28,29]. Previous studies have demonstrated the ability of these solutions to cause mechanical and structural damage to radicular dentin, resulting in a brittle dentin structure that is more susceptible to fracture [30,31].…”

“…Dental pulp disease is an important reason for patients to see a doctor, which causes the lack of teeth. At present, RCT is often utilized clinically for treatment [1][2][3]. Traditional X-ray inspection has low cost, low radiation dose, and simple operation.…”
