Validation of the Flourishing Scale (FS), Greek Version and Evaluation of Two Well-Being Models

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factor structure, invariance, reliability, convergent and discriminant validity of the Flourishing Scale using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in 2272 Greek adults (aged M = 35.54 years). We used the 3-faced validation method. After splitting the sample in three parts (20%, 40% and 40%), we established a structure in the first 20% part with Exploratory Factor Analysis. Later on, the structure was reexamined in the second 40% part with Confirmatory Fact… Show more

“…Then the researcher should choose a different model that is more stable across all three subsamples (EFA, 20%, CFA 1 40% and CFA 2 40%) and not necessarily the model of the best fit. There are some examples for applying this method (Kyriazos et al, 2018a(Kyriazos et al, , 2018b(Kyriazos et al, , 2018c(Kyriazos et al, , 2018d where such a case emerged (Kyriazos et al, 2018e).…”

On the other hand, when reporting an EFA without fit indices, details on how the number of factors was determined and the relative importance of the factors as a function of variance explained or eigenvalues is also recommended (Howitt & Cramer, 2017).…”
