Y-Ba-Cu-O Superconducting Films with High Jc Values by MOCVD using Ba-Addition Products

Abstract: Phase transitions in MnTiF6.6H20 and ZnTiF6.6H20 have been observed by studying their IR spectra at different temperatures. The librational modes of the water molecule change significantly around the transition temperature.

“…The obtained transition temperature (T c ) was 89 K, and the J c value at 77 K was 0.0013 MA cm −2 . Matsuno et al [10] achieved high J c values (more than 1 MA cm −2 ) by MOCVD using tetrahydrofuran (thf) additions for Ba. However, their deposition rates were less than 2 µm h −1 [10][11][12], and increasing the deposition rate decreased J c (0.4 MA cm −2 at 8 µm h −1 and 0.3 MA cm −2 at 14 µm h −1 ).…”

“…Flow rates of argon gas for the powder carrier and THF bubbling were 150 ml/min and 30 ml/min, respectively. This THF bubbling method produced stable vaporization of the barium source material (Matsuno, Uchikawa and Yoshizaki, 1990). Oxygen gas was separately introduced into the mixing chamber and the reactor chamber at the same rate of 150ml/min.…”

“…For the YBaCuO system, films prepared by OMCVD with transition temperatures Tc as high as 92K and critical current densities c as high as 6x106 A/cm2 at 77K have been recently reported. (5) In regard to the BiSrCaCuO films prepared by OMCVD, transition temperatures as high as 83K and c values of 4xlO5 amps/cm2 have been measured. (6,7) To date, much of the research on OMCVD of high Tc superconductors has been directed towards the YBaCuO system which should be intrinsically easier to prepare than the more complex BiSrCaCuO (BSSCO) and T1BaCaCuO systems.…”
