It is very important to instill character education from an early age. Strengthening character education can be done in various ways. One of the media in the formation of a child's character is Tamsisku. Tamsisku which means Taman Sinau Kulon Progo Students is a place for tutoring for elementary and junior high school children in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta. This study aims to explain the concept built through Tamsisku in the formation of children's values and character with the perspective of the philosophy of progressivism education. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. Data were obtained through interviews with teachers or mentors, parents, and students at Tamsisku. Analysis of the qualitative data was carried out using philosophical methods, including: induction and deduction, description and reflection. The results of this study indicate that from the tutoring program implemented in Tamsisku there are religious, disciplined, honest, creative, friendly, and environmental values that can be internalized to students as an effort to form character.Keywords: character education, philosophy of progressivism, self-paced learning AbstrakPendidikan karakter sangat penting ditanamkan sejak dini. Penguatan pendidikan karakter dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai macam cara. Salah satu media dalam pembentukan karakter seorang anak adalah Tamsisku. Tamsisku yang berarti Taman Sinau Siswa Kulon Progo ini merupakan tempat bimbingan belajar bagi anak-anak Sekolah Dasar dan Sekolah Menengah Pertama yang berada di Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan konsep yang dibangun melalui Tamsisku dalam pembentukan nilai dan karakter anak dengan perspektif filsafat pendidikan progresivisme. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan pengajar atau mentor, orangtua murid, dan murid di Tamsisku. Analisis terhadap data kualitatif tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode filosofis, antara lain: induksi dan deduksi, deskripsi dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari program bimbingan belajar yang diterapkan di Tamsisku terdapat nilai religius, disiplin, jujur, kreatif, bersahabat, dan peduli lingkungan yang dapat diinternalisasikan kepada peserta didik sebagai upaya untuk membentuk karakter.Kata kunci: pendidikan karakter, filsafat progresivisme, self paced learning
Moral continued to be an issue that attracts attention. Especially now that various parts of the country are experiencing the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19). The deadly virus requires people to carry out all activities from home, including learning and teaching at home. All parents are required to teach academically and morally. This article applies an exploratory case study method through a qualitative case study method approach that can find out information that occurs regarding Covid-19 on government policies that decide to carry out teaching and learning activities from home. The moral development in the perspective of Islamic psychology that can be done during this pandemic is by means of education with compassion, exemplary methods, and methods of advice.
