The paper is aimed at investigating adaptation peculiarities of the first-year students to university life. Among 105 first-year students selected for taking part in research 57 were internal migrants who had to change their place of residence and move to a student residential complex and 48 were original city residents who continued living at home. The research took place in 2018/2019 academic year at two Ukrainian universities. To promote research and collect data several diagnostic tools were used. To understand the leading concepts of research the methods of scientific literature analysis were applied. To process and interpret the obtained results the authors used the methods of mathematical statistics. The obtained results showed that stress resistance was the main source of successful adaptation of the first-year students to university life. Being self-resistant studentsinternal migrants seemed to know better how to deal with problems concerning their study and to be more open to interactions with their peers, family members and university teachers. At the same time facing unusual problems studentsoriginal city residents were not able to cope with them in a proper way and were more vulnerable to different stressors concerning university and personal life. The conducted research made it possible to define the difference between stress resistance of students-internal migrants and students-original city residents and to prove the correlation between adaptation and stress level.
The article presents the findings of a study of the psycho-semantic characteristics of the perception of promotional videos in the juvenile and adolescent age periods (as exemplified by the students of a lyceum and those of an institution of higher education in Ukraine). The modern advertising is seen as a societal and socio-psychological phenomenon that models not only the behavior but also the values, standards and mindsets of the younger generation. The scientific principles of the experimental psycho-semantics became the methodological basis for the empirical research in question. The purpose of the research was to reconstruct semantic spaces and an individual system of meanings, through the prism of which advertisements are perceived by juveniles and adolescents of both genders. The psycho-semantic research was carried out in three stages: scaling of advertising objects (on the basis of the semantic differential method), the construction of semantic spaces of promotional videos and the interpretation of the results obtained. Five promotional videos of different types were selected as the evaluation objects (an “Otrivin” animation video with computer graphics and special effects; a “Pantene” actor-supported voice-over music video; a “Hylak Forte” voice-over information-type video; a “Samsung” celebrity figure-supported video; a “Raiffeisenbank” storyline actor-supported voice-over music video). A comparative analysis of the psycho-semantic spaces of the above-mentioned objects was performed; the age and gender characteristics of their perception in the juvenile and adolescent age periods were determined. The following factors were identified as the main semantic axes of the psycho-semantic perception (as exemplified by the “Raiffeisenbank” promotional video): “Confidence in (distrust of) advertising” (SD indicators “true – false”, “informative – less informative”, “intelligent – stupid”); “Emotional attractiveness (unattractiveness) of advertising” (SD indicators “attractive – repulsive”, “joyful – sad”; “Tactfulness (obtrusiveness) of advertising” (SD indicators “relaxed – tense”, “modest – obtrusive”, “interesting – boring”).
Introduction. The article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of cognitive-semantic modelling of the subjective image of adulthood by schoolchildren of adolescence in modern sociocultural space. The authors proved that the logical-meaningful constructs of the linguistic picture of the world explicate the sociolect of the subjects of speech and form the conceptual space of the mental continuum, which is especially important for rethinking the semantic indicators of a personality formation in the process of growing up. The image of adulthood is interpreted by the authors as the most personalized systemic structure, which reflects the representation of the subjects of linguistic consciousness about the ideal self in the temporal perspective. Research procedure. The research procedure involved the use of conceptual analysis methods, analysis of vocabulary definitions, content analysis. Based on the results of 4207 text fragments and respondents’ answers study, quantification units of the semantic field of the studied conceptosphere, the core (semantic constant) and the peripheral part (its information-content and interpretation segments) were identified. Results. Empirically, the characteristics of the conceptual linguization were clarified to indicate the phenomenon of adulthood in the semantic space of the linguistic personality, the psycholinguistic features of the linguistic objectification of the concepts Adult and Becoming an Adult were identified in the consciousness of the subjects of ageing, and trends in the age-related dynamics of the cognitive-semantic nature of the adult concept in the minds of schoolchildren were specified. It has been stated that in the formatting of the subjective image of adulthood by schoolchildren of adolescence, there is a transition from empirical identification and awareness of predominantly «external» attributes of adulthood to a generalization of the internal relevant subsystems for assessing the world, oneself and other people (primarily adults). It is statistically confirmed that the main transformations of the subjective image of adulthood in the semantic space of the linguistic personality occur in adolescence, which should be the object of corrective and preventive interventions in the dynamic context of the psychological support of growing up. Conclusions. The results obtained substantially complement the materials presented by the scientific community on the trends in the conceptualization of the indicators of modern youth growing up.
У статті розглянуто сучасні підходи до інтерпретації категорії розвитку, розкрито теоретичні та методологічні підходи до вивчення категорії розвитку у сучасній психології, визначено її психологічний зміст, моделі, структуру та динаміку. Категорія розвитку розглядається як епіцентр наукової проблематики у психології та як поняття інтегративного типу. Розвиток проаналізовано як категорію, явище і проблему психології розвитку в різних аспектах аналізу. Розглянуто місце розвитку в системі споріднених психологічних понять. У статті також аналізуються психологічні аспекти теоретичних та методологічних постнекласичних тенденцій вивчення природи, характеру та визначення психічного розвитку. Постнекласична парадигма та плюралістична методологія пізнання визначають розмитість дисциплінарної мови та врахування ролі соціокультурного контексту при вивченні психологічних явищ. Важливими тенденціями сучасного теоретико-методологічного стану психологічних досліджень розвитку також є визнання неефективності моністичного підходу до його вивчення, взаємозв'язок теоретичних ідей та спроби створення метатеоретичних схем, постнекласичне розуміння розвитку як принципово незавершеного процесу саморуху, актуалізація антропологічного діапазону проблем та посилення спрямованості на роль культурного контексту в дослідженні розвитку людини. The article deals with the modern approaches to the interpretation of the category of development, reveals the theoretical and methodological approaches to study of development in modern psychology, its psychological content, patterns, structure and dynamics. Category of development is viewed as an epicenter of scientific issues in modern psychology and the concept of the integrative type. Category of development is considered as the phenomenon and the problem of developmental psychology in various aspects of the analysis. Analyzed the development site in the related psychological concepts. The article analyzes the psychological aspects of theoretical and methodological postnonclassical contemporary trends in the study of nature, character, and determination of mental development. Postnonclassical paradigm and pluralistic methodology of knowledge determine the disciplinary blurring and increase of the role of the analysis of socio-cultural context in the study of psychological phenomenon. The important tendencies of modern theoretical and methodological state of psychological researches of development are facts of inefficiency of the monistic approach to its study, interconnection of theoretical ideas and attempts of creating metatheoretical schemes, postnonclassical understanding of development as a fundamentally uncompleted process of self-motion, actualization of anthropological range of problems and strengthening of focus on the role of cultural context in research of human development.
