Negotiation is something that we do all the time. Negotiation is usually considered as a compromise to settle an argument or issue to benefit ourselves as much as possible. Communication is always the link that will be used to negotiate the problem whether it is face-to-face, on the telephone or in writing. Negotiation is not always between two people, it can involve several members from two parties. Children will negotiate among themselves everyday. They will negotiate when they faced with conflict. There are ways in helping children resolve conflict in communication and therefore negotiation plays an important role. The objectives of this paper are to identify the conflict pattern in communication and the use of negotiation skills in resolving conflict in communication among primary school children. A class of 20 subjects from a school in Selangor, Malaysia was chosen to find out the conflict pattern in communication via negotiation skills. The research was carried out for 3 months with the help of the class teacher. It is found that children are able to resolve conflict in communication by the use of negotiation skills.
The study focuses on the word recognition using the Malay Animal Fables (MAF) among primary school learners. The objectives of the study were to identify and discuss the words (noun, adjective and verb) from six animal fables. The MAF were taken from the Malay Folklore program. The samples of the study were 100 subjects from two classes of Malay language classrooms. The subjects were picked at random and were interviewed based on the MAF program. The program was based on the stories in the form of songs and the song lyrics. The answers from the subjects were collected and the data were accumulated and anaysed accordingly. The results revealed that the subjects were able to storytell the stories, identify the words and divided the words into noun, adjective and verb. It is hoped that future study will focus on the use of MAF in writing essay.
Kajian ini menganalisis jati diri Melayu dalam kumpulan puisi A. Aziz Deraman iaitu Suara Gunung Kehidupan dan Gelora Nurani. Jati diri Melayu merupakan elemen yang terpenting kerana di dalamnya terkandung khazanah bangsa yang harus dipertahankan dalam kehidupan masyarakat Melayu. Dalam konteks pembangunan dan pemantapan jati diri Melayu, kajian ini adalah penting kerana melalui pemahaman jati diri yang mantap akan terpancar ketatasusilaan, kebijaksanaan dan pekerti bangsa Melayu yang telah diwarisi sejak zaman berzaman. Hal ini wajar diberi perhatian terutama dalam menghadapi polemik semasa serta cabaran globalisasi yang dikatakan mampu mengubah jati diri sesuatu bangsa. Kajian ini dijalankan secara analisis kandungan dan analisis kajian mengunakan prinsip yang dikemukakan oleh Hashim Awang dalam Teori Pengkaedahan Melayu. Manakala, aspek jati diri Melayu dalam puisi tersebut akan dianalisis melalui tiga aspek utama iaitu jati diri dalam aspek bahasa Melayu, jati diri dalam aspek agama dan jati diri dalam aspek budaya. Kajian mendapati bahawa ketulenan jati diri kemelayuan yang ditunjukkan oleh A. Aziz Deraman melalui puisinya berperanan sebagai iktibar, peringatan, dan nasihat yang dapat membawa manfaat dan menemukan kemuafakatan kepada masyarakat. Ini kerana ianya berlandaskan kepada ajaran dan etika Islam yang menjadi jalinan prinsip penting dalam Teori Pengkaedahan Melayu. Perkara ini sekaligus mencirikan kepenyairannya yang mempunyai jati diri kemelayuan yang mantap.
Online anime has been a major influence towards the growth of children in Malaysia.Therefore this study investigates the online anime that influence children in their everyday lives. The study also discusses the influence of online anime that contributed to positive interaction in the discussion between the children. The study involves 10 nine year olds subjects from a class of one school in Putrajaya. The children were selected based on their experience in watching online anime. The subjects were interviewed. They were in groups of 3 to 4. They discussed about the characters, setting and storylines from the online anime that they had watched and the conversation were taped and analyzed. Selected extracts were analysed and discussed by using the discourse analysis method. It is found that subjects were strongly influenced by the characters, setting and storylines from the online anime. They were happy and contented to be like the characters in the story. It is hoped that online anime were able to give positive influence towards children in their everyday lives.
