The implementation of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic may affect students’ learning attitude and motivation to some extent. This paper aims to describe the university students’ opinions about learning attitude and motivation while studying from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. A non-experimental research design was used with an exploratory quantitative method. A total of 238 respondents participated in the online survey from April 22 to 29, 2020. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the collected data by using SPSS 23. The results showed that 52.5% (n = 125) of the respondent did not enjoy studying from home and 91.5% (n = 218) did not gain as much knowledge as in the traditional mode, although they still had a higher motivation to learn and had a better relationship with their family members. Interesting materials and enjoyable teaching methodology and interaction are therefore suggested. Keywords: Covid-19; studying from home; online learning attitude; learning motivation
The present study investigates English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher’s multimedia knowledge and practices in remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Firstly, it focuses on determining whether some teachers' demographics (gender, nationality, academic qualification, type of institution, perceptions) correspond to teachers' multimedia knowledge. Secondly, it reveals the teacher’s practices in implementing multimedia in EFL classrooms. This present study surveyed 120 participants (Male=33 and Female=87) from Indonesia (N=108) and outside Indonesia (N=12). They answered a questionnaire to identify their demographic information and took a literacy test to examine their multimedia knowledge. The findings indicate that of the demographics, only gender correlates significantly to teacher’s multimedia knowledge. It was also found that teachers have worked hard to bridge the gaps of remote teaching by implementing multimedia regardless of the barriers they have met. It implies that multimedia should be applied not only in remote teaching but also in face-to-face and blended learning due to the power of multimedia in language learning.
This study aims to analyze the role of social capital in community development in disaster prone areas. The study was conducted in a disaster-prone area of Mount Kelud, Sempu Village, Ngancar District, Kediri Regency after the eruption in 2014. The study used a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The results showed that after the eruption in 2014, social capital in the community became a source of strength in community development in the Mount Kelud disaster-prone areas, especially in the process of restoring the social and economic life of the Sempu village community. Social ties, trusts, social networks that are strongly intertwined are the elements of social capital that are still strong which are found in the study area. The results of the study also found a responsive, innovative and transparent leadership pattern developed by the Village Head helped accelerate the recovery process of the socio-economic life of the Sempu village community. The results of the study also revealed that the social capital owned by the local community was tested for strength when dealing with external forces such as the presence of institutions and volunteers involved in the recovery process. This situation triggered tensions between residents and the apparatus assigned to distribute aid.
Masjid berfungsi sebagai lembaga dakwah yang perannya sangat penting di masyarakat. Salah satunya yaitu membina serta mengarahkanremaja selaku generasi muda untuk selalu berbuat kebaikan dan menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilaiIslam sesuai dengan tuntutan agama. Kegiatan ini bertujuan 1) untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivitas remaja mesjid terhadap akhlakul karimah dalam kehidupan masyarakat, dan 2) untuk mengetahui hambatan remaja mesjid dalam melakukan aktifitas keagamaan dalam rangka menumbuhkan sifat akhlakul karimah terhadap kehidupan masyarakat. Adapun metode pelaksanaan dengan menggunakan teknik Participatory Action Research, Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan 1) Aktivitas Remaja Mesjid Nurul Huda berpengaruh terhadap akhlakul karimah dalam kehidupan masyarakat di Desa Ladang Tuha Kecamatan Meukek Kabupaten Aceh Selatan. 2) Remaja Mesjid Nurul Huda dalam melakukan aktifitas keagamaan dalam rangka menumbuhkan sifat akhlakul karimah dalam kehidupan masyarakat di Desa Ladang Tuha Kecamatan Meukek Kabupaten Aceh Selatan banyak mendapat dukungan dan hambatan.
This dedication article aims to socialize the miracles of the Qur'an in the scientific field. Based on our observation that the public does not know what scientific content the Qur'an has. The findings from the results of this dedication are people with an educational background who have a good understanding of the delivery of material content, it is different from ordinary people, their impression of this program is good and requires a slow delivery strategy so that the message conveyed can be understood. This activity provides many benefits to the Radio community listeners loyal to Baiturrahman in increasing insight, literacy in understanding the miracles of the Qur'an.
