ABSTRAK ABSTRACTThe objective of this study was to identify the Melanocortin 1 Receptor (MC1R) gene in sorrel-, black-and white-Bali cows originated from Kupang-East Nusa Tenggara. Blood samples were taken from 46 cows consisted of of 17, 18 and 8 of sorrel, black and 8 heads, respectively, and 3 heads of bull. The PCR-RFLP method was performed to identify the gene. Amplification of PCR gene MC1R of Kupang's Bali Cattle (KBC) was 296 bp. The digestion by using MspI enzyme showed that there were EE genotype (169, 136 bp) in Bali bull, sorrel and white cows. Two 2 genotypes, those were EE (169, 136 bp) and Ee (296, 169, 136 bp) were found in black Bali cow. The frequency of E alele of KBC was 0.99 (99%) and e alele was 0.01 (1%). MC1R gene in KBC was monomorphic and the it can be used as the marker of the coat color in the population.
Kegiatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota mitra kelompok tani tentang model kemitraan proporsional dan manajemen penggemukan ternak babi. Kelompok tani Syalom ditetapkan sebagai mitra dengan mempertimbangkan bahwa usaha penggemukan ternak babi merupakan rutinitas yang dijalankan anggota kelompok tani, namun selama ini menemui masalah akibat penggunaan bibit dalam jumlah dan kualitas yang rendah, dominasi pakan yang menggunakan limbah rumah tangga, modal yang terbatas, serta jadwal pemasaran yang tidak menentu. Kondisi tersebut pada akhirnya mempengaruhi keberlanjutan usaha ternak babi dan kurang memberikan kontribusi terhadap pendapatan anggota mitra. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyuluhan, diskusi, demonstrasi plot, pendampingan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Implementasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui diseminasi informasi model kemitraan proporsional, tata laksana penggemukan, dan sistem pemasaran ternak babi. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan adalah peningkatan pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan keterampilan anggota mitra dalam menerapkan model kemitraan proporsional serta manajemen penggemukan ternak babi. Luaran yang dihasilkan, antara lain: bibit babi penggemukan sebanyak 8 ekor, dokumen Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) kemitraan selama 3 tahun pelaksanaan, dan ternak babi penggemukan layak jual pada masa pemeliharaan 5 bulan serta bobot akhir 85-100 kg/ekor. Kemitraan proporsional yang diterapkan memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan aktivitas usaha penggemukan ternak babi dan pendapatan anggota mitra kelompok tani Syalom.
Keterbatasan pengetahuan kelompok tani dan sumber daya air sering menjadi kendala dalam budidaya tanaman hortikultura di lahan sempit dan kering. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan petani tersebut diperlukan sentuhan teknologi budidaya tanaman di lahan sempit dan lahan kering. Metode pengabdian adalah penyuluhan, demplot dan pendampingan. Kebun contoh tanaman hortikulutura di Kelompok Tani Tunas Baru menggunakan pupuk Bokhasi, mulsa plastik dan irigasi semprot bawah mulsa (Pro-Basa) dapat meningkatkan produksi tanaman hortikultura dan pendapatan petani. Untuk memanfaatkan pekarangan rumah dan lahan yang sempit, dapat menggunakan penanaman secara hidroponik dan polybag sebagai media tanam. Simpulan dari pengabdian adalah tersedianya kebun contoh tanaman semi organik di lahan kering, peningkatan pengetahuan dalam budidaya tanaman hortikultura di lahan kering menggunakan bokhasi, irigasi Pro-basa, aplikasi sistem hidroponik dan pemanfaatana pupuk oranik cair untuk budidaya sayuran di pekarangan sempit serta adanya peningkatan pendapatan petani dalam usaha tanaman hortikultura pada lahan kering

The aim of this study was to identify the genetics of local pigs and imported pigs (Landrace and Duroc) based on qualitative analysis. Thirty-eight pigs were used in this study and consisted of 11 local pigs (from Bali), six Landrace pigs and four Duroc pigs (from Malang), nine Landrace pigs (from Bali) and eight local pigs (from Kupang). Qualitative traits in pigs such as coat color, body shape (back shape, belly shape, and ears) and hair cover were observed. The cytochrome b (Cyt b) gene of mitochondrial DNA was analyzed using PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism. The PCR analysis resulted in a 464 base pairs (bp) amplified band, and this was digested using TaqI restriction enzyme. The PCR-RFLP analysis resulted in two bands, 246 and 218 bp (monomorphic). The alignment analysis showed four points of single nucleotide polymorphisms. Bali and Kupang pigs had a specific pattern on exterior characteristics such as curved back shape, belly hanging shape, small ears and thick hair, and had many variations on coat color such as black, cream, spotted and mottled. The differences in coat color and body shape, and the corresponding mtDNA Cyt b sequence (with four SNPs) is a marker for genetic variation in pigs.
