The Gifted Young Scientists (GYS) is the students who have certain intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership, or academic abilities that are higher than the average ability of students in general, they need different educational services (special need). This study aims to analyze the potential of gifted young scientists in terms of critical thinking in the village area in Indonesia. The study was conducted using a multi-case multi-site case study design involving 4 managers, 5 teachers, and 5 students in the High School. Data collected through in depth and focus group interviews then analyzed qualitatively with thematically. The study found that there were four characteristics of gifted young scientists in the High School studied, namely; (i) very active and creative, (ii) easy and quick to receive information and materials, (iii) have a very high curiosity, (iv) love the high-level and challenging learning process. These findings indicate that the selfcontained class students in high school meet the criteria of gifted young scientists. Thus, differentiated curriculum, high quality learning process with different teachers, materials, and approaches need to be designed seriously and continuously for the maximum student development process.
This study aims to investigating the effectiveness of using the tartil method in improving students' ability to read the Quran in elementary schools. This study uses a quantitative method with an experimental approach (true experimental pretest-posttest control group design). Data were taken from sixtysix students by means of pre-test and post-test of reading the Quran skills. All students involved are samples of the population which are used as research objects. The research data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Windows 22.0). Overall, the results of the study indicate that the use of the tartil method in learning the Quran is very effective because it can improve students' abilities in reading the Quran. Therefore, the tartil method can be used as an alternative in learning the Quran.
Dialog antar umat beragama mempunyai fungsi kritis ke dalam dan ke luar. Dialog demikian menawarkan realitas baru untuk kemajuan hidup bersama dalam masyarakat, karena terjadi proses yang dinamis dalam pemahaman keagamaan dan aplikasinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dialog antar umat beragama dalam upaya pencegahan konflik. Penelitian dijalankan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif (multi case single-site exsploratory case study). Data primer digali melalui observasi, wawancara secara mendalam (indepth interview) kepada tokoh desa dan tokoh agama di kecamatan Punduh Pidada, Kabupaten Pesawaran, yang memiliki masyarakat dari berbagai komunitas agama (Islam, Kristen, dan Katolik) secara Snowballing technique. Data sekunder digali melalui analisis dokumen terhadap berbagai buku, kitab suci agama, dan dokumen-dokumen yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif (tematik) berbantukan software NVIVO 10. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) dialog antar umat beragama berjalan melalui kegiatan sosial, (ii) adanya kebiasaaan dan kesadaran masyarakat untuk memikul beban bersama secara bergotong royong, (iii) dukungan tokoh desa dan tokoh agama. Hasil penelitian ini didiskusikan dengan berbagai teori dan hasil-hasil penelitian sebelumnya, dan bisa dijadikan sebagai salah satu acuan untuk menciptakan kedamaian, kerukunan, ketentraman, keharmonisan dan saling menjunjung tinggi prinsip kebersamaan di tengah-tengan masyarakat majemuk.
This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of learning the Quran using the tartil method. Sixty six (66) students whose Quran reading skills were poor were treated as the sample of this study. The data were collected through the Quran oral reading test and then analyzed through descriptive statistics using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS Windows 22.0). The results showed that learning the Quran using the tartil method was effective. Therefore, this method can be used as an alternative in learning the Quran.
