In the face of the psychological crisis of fear caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is relevant to know the positive impact of hope and resilience during this context. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between hope and resilience with fear of COVID-19 in young people. The design was non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational. The sample consisted of 192 young people living in Metropolitan Lima, Peru. We used the Hope-Despair Questionnaire, the Resilience Scale, and the COVID-19 Fear Questionnaire. The results show that there is a significant correlation between hope, resilience, and fear of COVID-19 in young people. On the other hand, a significant difference was found in resilience according to gender. Likewise, it was found that the variables hope and resilience explain 81% (R2 adjusted) of the fear of COVID-19 (F test = 21.53; p < 0.01). Hope and resilience are protective factors that have a positive impact when facing the fear of COVID-19. Thus, policies, programs, and public health strategies related to positive mental health should be promoted, with emphasis on hope and resilience.
The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24) for measuring emotional intelligence in Peruvian students. A total of 699 Peruvian students participated. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed with 210 students and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed with 489 students. The Spanish version of the TMMS-24 scale was used. A descriptive analysis of the items was made. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed with the unweighted least squares estimation method with promin oblique rotation, and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed through the modeling of structural equations. Internal consistency was estimated with the ordinal a coefficient. The EFA yielded a three-factor structure and the correlations between factors were high (between .530 to .689). With the CFA, adequate goodness-of-fit indices are observed (χ2= 385.868, TLI= .963, CFI= .967, RMSEA= 0.034, SRMR= .041). The α-ordinal coefficient shows adequate internal consistency (α= .93). The TMMS-24 presents good psychometric properties for measuring emotional intelligence in Peruvian students.
ABSTRACT Objective:In this research the relationship between religiosity and resilience in a sample of 156 psychology students at 4 cycles, in a private university in Lima Este. Material and Methods: This research is correlational. Religiosity Scale (2014) was used and for the variable of resilience to evaluate religiousness variable, the scale of resilience Wagnild and Young (1993). Participants are students of psychology at a private university in Lima Este, ages 18 to 30, comprising a non-probabilistic sample of 156 subjects of both sexes and of different religions. Results:The results show a moderately significant relationship between the dimensions of religiosity and resilience. It was determined that students with higher level students practice their religion, they have a higher level of resiliency. Conclusions: These results support the theoretical considerations determine religiosity as a partner in the formation of the resilience factor.
