Tonel is a dramatic performing arts that has been living in Tansi Society, Sawahlunto, Sumatera Barat. This study is a preliminary review of the tonel existence in the present time that related to the history of Sawahlunto as a colonialization effect. This research use descriptive analysis of study literature and interview, the description is directed to explore the postcolonial indication contained in tonel staging practices. The results answered that tonel is a part of a hybrid product in creoles culture, as the effects of colonial policy in the past. In other hand, the study also explained that through theatricality of tonel had an impected for Tansi society of Sawahlunto to create a new cultural identity as "Slunto Peoples"
This article aims to outline the essence of theatre performance as a signalling system from the perspective of theatre semiotics.The scope of the discussion in this article covers: (1) the components of the signalling system in theatre; (2) the changing ofsigns from the story to the stage; (3) the units of signs contained in the story and in the performance; and (4) how all the signsare joined together in a single system. Using a bibliographical study, each of these topics will be addressed and answeredinductively. Subsequently, through a descriptive analysis, the article will show which signs are involved in the manifestationof the script for the performance. It is hoped that this article will be useful for understanding that the meanings of a theatreperformance are essentially determined by the correlation of various units of signs that are involved in the process of signallingin the performance.Keywords: Theatre, Semiotics, System, Signalling
This study is intended to explain the process of dramaturgy which bridges the transformation from the literary text of the Syair Lampung Karam to the theater performance text of Under The Volcano. The approach used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. The source of the data is direct observation of the performance, observations of the process of creation, documentation of performances, records of processes and results of interviews. Based on these data, an analysis of acts of dramaturgy and dramaturgical thinking was carried out which underlies the creation of Under The Volcano theater performance text, which is seen as a series of the process of dramaturgy. The results of the study show that the theater performance text of the Under the Volcano is a form of expression of the experience of people living in the volcanic environment, which was built by taking abstractions from the experience of natural disasters of the eruption of Mount Krakatau which was told in Syair Lampung Karam.
Tulisan ini membahas tentang cara analisis teks lakon dengan cara strukturalisme Levi-Strauss. Sebuah cara analisis yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif dalam memahami kandungan sebuah naskah lakon. Dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, dalam tulisan ini diuraikan tentang konsep-konsep dasar analisis lakon menggunakan pendekatan strukturalisme yang direkomendasikan oleh Levi-Strauss.

Estetika film Salisiah Adaik telah melahirkan makna dan arti budaya itu sendiri, untuk mengungkapkan makna tersebut dilakukan dengan analisa estetika formalisme Sergei Eisenstein.
