This study aims to analyse students' conceptual understanding of chemical equilibrium matter using Physics Education Technology (PhET) Interactive Simulations. Students' misconceptions can be caused by the difficulty in connecting the sub-microscopic, macroscopic, and symbolic levels of understanding in chemistry. The study was conducted at a secondary school with a total sample of 108 students using a quantitative research method. The results showed that multiple-choice questions of the two-tier Chemical Equilibrium Diagnostic Instrument (CEDI) used in this study meet with the Rasch measurement model. The students who answered correctly on content knowledge ranged from 11.1—90.7%. However, the percentage decreased to 11.1—84.3% once the content knowledge and reasons were combined. The option probability curve responses identified the students' misconceptions that were further investigated by interviews. PhET Interactive Simulations require improvements or additional features to help students better understand conceptual understanding through analogies of product and reactant molecules' movement in the equilibrium system.
In today's era there are changes in social dynamics of society as a result of the onslaught of modernity. Various things are influenced by these changes, one of which is related to the traditions that exist in society. This study aims to see how the acculturation process of Islamic culture in the past and present and what influences these changes. This research is a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques using interviews conducted directly to respondents who still maintain the natural conditions of the community. The research was conducted in the Cikidi Hilir area where the area is still very strong with beliefs with ancestors which was carried out in December 2021. The respondents in this study were 10 people who came from the community in the Cikidi Hilir area. The sample selection used a non-probability sampling technique (purposive sampling) which was aimed at the people who live in the area and are considered to know the tradition/culture to be studied (ruwatan rumah). The results of the research conducted indicate that the implementation of home care in Cidikit Hilir is a form of cultural acculturation. Because all the people in the village are Muslims. Especially in the teachings of Islam, the process of ruwatan house described above does not exist. Ruwatan is the result of the work or copyright handed down by his predecessors. Remembering, it is possible, before Islam came, the people were Sunda Wiwitan. There is acculturation of Islamic culture with the old-fashioned culture of the people. Because, there is a collaboration between prayers that come from the teachings of Islam and the legacy of the ancient Sundanese language. Ruwat house as a form of appreciation for someone or a group of the most crowded creators thanks to their residence (house).
This study aims to develop a score equating application for computer-based school exams using parallel test kits that have 25% anchor items, the items are arranged according to the HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) category and use a scientific approach according to the characteristics of physics lessons. So that the questions are made using stimulus, options, logical and systematic. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), which begins with an analysis of the current needs of schools and takes advantage of technological developments so that it makes it easier for schools to organize, and then continued in the literature study to design a school exam model with its devices. Items as instruments for school exams were analyzed using the RASCH model. The principle of equating used in application development is the linear equating method.
The research aimed to engage students in reflecting their values through the integration of dilemma teaching pedagogy in chemistry classroom. Dilemmas stories have been engaged students in values awareness through critical and dilemma thinking in the issues of plastic waste. The research was conducted in four secondary schools in Indonesia with 457 students, with depth case study in two classrooms of year 12. The mixed-method study as a methodology provided different perspectives to understand the participants. The survey as quantitative data collection used The Constructivist Values Learning Environment Survey (CVLES), followed by qualitative data through semi-structured interviews, and classroom observations. The CVLES obtained perceptions of student engagement with the story, the teacher’s supportive role, critical thinking skill development, and students’ learning to listen actively and think about the chemistry learning. The results show that the students and the researcher engaged in critical reflection on their values, collaboration with others, on their roles in participating in environmental education, social issues, and in deep chemistry learning. In addition, the dilemmas stories play important roles in developing character education which is relevant to new Indonesia curricula.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
