This study aims to improve critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes of 4th grade students at Middle Tingkir 02 Elementary School by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The research carried out by Jhon Elliot's class action research type with four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of three meetings. Data acquisition was obtained from instruments in the form of critical thinking skills assessment rubrics and tests for Mathematics learning outcomes. The subjects of this study were the 4th grade Tingkir Tengah Elementary School 02 as many as 35 students. The technical data analysis uses descriptive comparative techniques across cycles. The results showed: (1) there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills from the initial condition, cycle 1, and cycle 2. In the initial condition the critical thinking skills in the critical category were only 43%, in the first cycle 76%, and in the second cycle increased to 97%; (2) Mathematics learning outcomes of students also increase. In the initial conditions only 42% of students experienced completeness, in cycle 1 it increased to 51% of students who completed it, and in cycle 2 it increased to 68%.
Background: Stigma is a negative view of individuals that would have influences on how they feel about, and act upon others. Stigma towards people with mental health problems will negatively affect their recovery process. At a stage of their education, nursing students will meet with people with mental disorders. It is important to analyze their view towards people with mental disorders. Objective: This research aimed to gain an overview on nursing students’ stigma towards people with mental disorders at Stikes Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta. Methods: This study was descriptive quantitative with a cross sectional method and proportionate random sampling technique, involving 81 respondents. Data were obtained through a questionnaire. Students’ stigma was viewed from several aspects including education, gender, age and ethnicity. Stigma was assessed in three categories; low, moderate and high level of stigma. Result: Result showed that within the categories, the highest prevalence was in the moderate level of stigma (96.3% or 78 people), high level of stigma accounted for 3.7% (3 people), and there was not respondent with low level of stigma. Conclusion: The majority of nursing students at Stikes Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta had moderate level of stigma. Keywords: stigma, mental disorder, nursing student
Background: As a result of the increased number of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Indonesia in 2021, nurses as one of the front-liners have experienced extreme workload and stress. This has caused increased numbers of mental health problems in nurses. One of the most common problems is anxiety. Objective: This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of relaxation techniques to reduce nurses’ anxiety levels during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a quantitative study, using pre- and post- test design. Nurses’ anxiety levels were measured before and after the application of relaxation techniques, namely breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and guided imagery. A training was provided for the participants, along with module and a music video to guide their practices. Results: The application of relaxation technique for approximately two weeks after an online training significantly reduced nurses’ anxiety levels. The score of anxiety levels has significantly decreased from pre- (M= 56.51, SD= 15.80) to (M= 48.30, SD= 13.70) post- training and application, t(201) = 5.82, p < .001 (two-tailed). Conclusion: It is important to provide nurses with support that they need during pandemic or any other catastrophic events, in order to maintain their safety and well-being.
Background: There is not enough information related to the accuracy of nursing and collaborative diagnoses established by nurses in psychiatric setting in Indonesia. Objective: The objective of this study was to identify the correspondence between nursing and collaborative diagnoses established and predicted by nurses. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study which employed 81 nurse respondents. Data were collected in 2013 using two types of questionnaires. The rst questionnaire was used to identify the most frequent nursing and collaborative diagnoses encountered by the nurses. The second questionnaire was used to identify data which were most frequently identi ed by the nurses. The second questionnaire was developed based on the sequence in the Intan’s Screening Diagnosis Assessment (ISDA).Results: The results indicated that there were 46 nursing diagnosis labels established by the nurses. Of the 46 nursing diagnosis labels, only 13 (28.26%) corresponded precisely to the labels in North American Nursing Diagnoses Association (NANDA) taxonomy (2012-2014) of nursing diagnoses. As many as 11 diagnoses (23.91%) could be included as key concepts (or diagnostic foci) in NANDA taxonomy. However, these nursing diagnosis labels did not written correctly as in NANDA labels. There were also 22 diagnosis (47%) labels not listed in NANDA taxonomy. Conclusion: The majority of nursing diagnosis labels did not match with nursing diagnosis labels in NANDA taxonomy.
