AbstrakSaat ini semakin berkembangnya penduduk di dunia dan Indonesia yang menjadi vegetarian, dimana hasil survei yang dilakukan oleh American Dietetic Association (ADA) menunjukkan jumlah vegetarian pada tahun 2006, sekitar 4,9 juta (2,3%) penduduk dewasa di Amerika menjadi vegetarian dan sekitar 1,4 % menjadi vegetarian vegan, sedangkan di Kanada sekitar 900 orang penduduk dewasanya menjadi vegetarian. Jumlah vegetarian di Indonesia yang terdaftar pada Indonesia Vegetarian Society (IVS) saat berdiri pada tahun 1998 sekitar 5.000 anggota dan meningkat menjadi 60.000 anggota pada tahun 2000. Jumlah IVS di Kota Medan pada tahun 2013 sebanyak 2000 orang. Berdasarkan hasil studi pendahuluan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti terhadap 49 orang penganut vegetarian di Maha Vihara Maitreya pada tanggal 26 Oktober 2013, terdapat sekitar 32% mempunyai kadar kolesterol darah di atas normal. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan asupan energi, karbohidrat, dan serat dengan kadar trigliserida dan glukosa darah (KGD) pada komunitas vegetarian IVS di Maha Vihara Maitreya Cemara Asri Medan tahun 2014. Metode Penelitian ini bersifat Observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling, sedangkan untuk menganalisis data dilakukan uji Korelasi Pearson. Dengan mengambil kesimpulan, jika p<0,05 maka Ho ditolak dan jika p>0,05 maka Ho diterima. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan antara asupan energi, karbohidrat, dan serat dengan kadar trigliserida dan glukosa darah (KGD) sampel komunitas vegetarian, dimana hubungan tersebut memiliki keeratan pada tingkat sedang dan kuat. Untuk itu perlu disarankan agar penganut vegetarian tetap menjaga keseimbangan komsumsi antara energi, KH, dan serat.
This study aimed to determine the effect of maternal empowerment on improving fish consumption patterns to increase protein intake, calcium, zinc, and Z-score height by age when stunting children. The type of this research is Quasi-Experimental with pre and post-test control group design. The results showed an increase in maternal knowledge, increased intake of protein, calcium, and zinc as well as an increase in TB scores / After the intervention in the case group, compared to the control group, there were no differences in protein, calcium intake and Z-score TB / U, an increase in maternal empowerment increased intake of children stunting and the same as intake of children not stunting. Conclusion There is a significant difference in the average value of protein intake, calcium, zinc, and Z-score before and after providing maternal empowerment interventions to improve fish consumption patterns in children aged 13-36 months.

Vegetarian, vegan and non-vegan, can lower the risk of metabolic syndrome disease caused by central obesity by measuring waist circumference and the general obesity by assessing Body Mass Index (BMI). One of alternative to prevent can be done by changing the pattern of diet habits from omnivores (the consumption of animal products and vegetable and dairy) become vegetarian (vegetable and dairy product consumption). The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in waist circumference and BMI in terms of nutrient intake in the vegetarian community members Indonesia Vegetarian Society (IVS) at the age of 30-58 years in Maha Vihara Maitreya Medan. This study was an observational with cross sectional design. These research subjects are divided into two groups, 42 vegans and 42 non-vegans selected by screening, and then determined by purposive sampling. Nutrient intake data collected by interview using the 24-hour recall, while the antropometry measurement using a measuring tape, scales and microtoise. Analysis were done using Independent T-test. The results showed there's difference of waist circumference between vegan and non vegan (p = 0.008), but there is no difference of IMT (p = 0105). Statistically, energy and protein intake was not different (p> 0.05), however, there were differences found in carbohydrate intake (p = 0.001) and total fat (p = 0.005) in the vegan and non vegan. The continue research on the diet of vegan vegetarian adverse event to metabolic syndrome and the characteristics of the food based on local cultural wisdom needs to be done.
