This study examines the effect of the snake and ladder game on Islamic history Fathu Mecca learning outcomes based on observations at the SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah in Indonesia. Students have been shown to acquire standard competency through the study of Islamic history. This course is very important to build a strong Muslim identity, especially in Islamic School Muhammadiyah. Meanwhile, the snake and ladder game has been used by several educators in the teaching and learning process. This game positively influences students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, the authors developed and integrated Islamic history into the snake and ladder game board. This research was a quantitative study conducted on 60 fifth-grade students divided into experiment and control classes. Furthermore, the data were collected using observation, interview, and t-test hypotheses. The results showed that the snake and ladder game positively affects students’ learning outcomes in studying Islamic history. Based on the result, this game provides opportunities for students to explore, identify, practice, and understand concepts. The teachers are expected to encourage students to develop skills for discovering knowledge through an inspiring and fun learning atmosphere.
<p>This study aims to find the impoliteness strategies in the<br />commenting of Instagram. The source of the data is taken<br />from Instagram account “Kekeyi” a beauty vlogger who viral<br />because of her uniqueness “using water balloon as sponge”<br />and her controversy in social media. These situation make her<br />get Bullying from her followers. The harassment and impolite<br />language cannot be avoided in the commenting of Kekeyi’s<br />Instagram. By identifying and analyzing of all the data, the<br />writer found that there are three strategies of impoliteness<br />language used by the followers. They are bald on record,<br />positive impoliteness and negative impoliteness. Based on the<br />data, the writer also found that positive impoliteness as the<br />dominant strategy used by her followers. The use of the three<br />strategies seems as the way of her follower to show their<br />disappointment toward what Kekeyi did in her posting and<br />caption were not what they expected. Studying of language<br />impoliteness is very important to avoid verbal bullying in<br />social media.</p>
This paper analyzes experiential meaning in poetry written by William Wordsworth. It applied Halliday Systemic Functional Grammar to pinpoint and analyze the occurrences of processes in the poetry. There are five poetry which is taken as the subject on this research. The analysis is conducted based the six processes in transitivity system. The analysis found that there are five processes coded in the poetry of William Wordsworth. They are material, mental, relational, behavioral and existential. It also resulted that the most dominant types is the material process. It’s meant that poetry tells about the poet’s action in expressing of his idea, feeling and showing in life. This finding also shows that William Wordsworth as the poet uses the material process to build the imagery such as personification, simile and metaphor. Related to the findings of this study, the application of analysis experiential meaning can be implicated in writing and reading academic as well as translators, students and instructors involved in writing and reading pedagogy.
This paper focused on discussing about the responses of students in State Islamic University of North Sumatera about the implementation of a new innovation in learning activities during this pandemic. In this case, all information is explored through interviews and giving some several questions that related to the focus of this research. The questions are organized correspond to the key points that lead to research goals. The sample composed of four students who are regularly took part in learning activities during the pandemic which come from the different level at State Islamic University of North Sumatera. Each sample expressed their opinion on learning experience during this pandemic, such as about the new innovations that they found in teaching strategies which include the weaknesses and strengths. Therefore, the findings of this research are useful as the new knowledge that explores how the innovation can be relied in a part of learning activities optimally, accurately, and easily in achieving the learning goals, which can be a reference for the advancement of learning activities in Indonesia, especially in State Islamic University of North Sumatera.
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas pengembangan big book terhadap kemampuan mempredikksi bacaan cerita siswa kelas III di SD Muhamadiyah 28 Medan. Dari hasil analisis menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk, uji Wilcoxon,dan uji hipotesis Mann-Whitiney dengan taraf signifikasi ∝= 0.05. Temuan dalam penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa pengembangan media big book terhadap kemampuan memprediksi bacaan cerita siswa tersebut dinyatakan layak dan dapat digunakan dilhat dari hasil validasi ahli isi dan ahli media dengan skor 76%, media ini juga dinyatakan praktis dalam penggunaannya dilihat dari 14 kriteria dengan persentase 85,71% dan penggunaan media big book ini juga sangat efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan memprediksi bacaan cerita siswa kelas III di SD Muhamdiyah 28 Medan dengan persentase 92,6% pada sampel dan 87,5% pada guru pada taraf Asym Sig 0,001 < dari taraf signifikasi 0,05. Sebagai hasil akhir dilakukan uji hipotesis Mann-Whitney dengan hasil signifikasi 0,002 sehingga, berdasarkan kriteria pengambilan keputusan H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima
