This research was conducted to describe the structure and linguistic elements of the description text of class VII students of SMP Negeri 30 Padang. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. The data of this study are qualitative data in the form of structure and linguistic elements of the student's description text. The data are analyzed by steps, namely (1) the researcher identifies the general elements contained in the description text, (2) analyzes the essay based on the aspects studied, namely the structure and linguistic elements of the student's description text, (3) the results of the analysis the researcher examined by triangulation informants, (4) make conclusions. Based on the results of the study, two things are summarized as follows. First, in writing the description text the seventh grade students of Padang Public Middle School 30 have used both text structures. The two text structures are identification/general description and description of parts. This is evident from the 40 description texts that have been analyzed, there are 39 complete description texts using identification/general description and part descriptions. Second, in terms of language, the seventh grade students of Padang Public Middle School 30 still have errors. This is evident from the 422 sentences analyzed, there were 281 sentences and the EBI was incorrect. Kata kunci: Struktur Teks, Unsur Kebahasaan, Teks Deskripsi
The purpose of science and technology activities for the Society (IbM) is to solve problems in the school library by providing understanding and management of libraries to library officer or teachers placed in the library to be able to manage the school library based on information technology in accordance with established standards. In this activity, it will solve the problem completely from conceptual understanding and conducting school library management practices based on information technology with the implementation of library automation system using Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) and socialization of information literacy in the school library.The method offered to solve the problem of school library management based on information technology is the training is used lecturing method, question and answer, group discussion, and practice. Then this is followed by information socialization activities information technology-based information for all school members. Training activities accomplished properly according to the expected objectives of the program. This activity received a positive response from various parties and trainees can apply the use of SLiMS software in school library management. From the socialization activities for information literacy performed by involving all elements schools can increase their citizens' understanding of various sources of information that can be utilized. So hopefully the school library can provide better service and the existence of school libraries will contribute significantly to the society. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan sosialisasi informasi berbasis teknologi informasi untuk semua anggota sekolah. Local political figures in West Sumatra are role models for people in areas such as communication performance. Communication politeness is important to be used by local and national political figures. In this regard, the research on the communication performance of local political figures both at the regional and national levels needs to be examined from aspects of politeness. The purpose of this study describes the form of violations of communication politeness in terms of the principles of courtesy and the principle of cooperation. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research to examine the forms of communication politeness violations of local political figures in West Sumatra in terms of the principles of courtesy and the principle of cooperation. The data of this research are oral speeches of local political figures in West Sumatra with the community in the form of oral sources. Data collection methods and techniques used in this study are methods of reading and recording techniques. Data recording is a speech recorded by local political figures contained in the youtube application online. Data analysis techniques are (1) data identification, (2) data classification, (3) data interpretation, and (4) conclusion. The research findings are as follows. First, there were four forms of violations of maxims in courtesy principles namely speech that violated the maxim of wisdom, violated the maxim of praise, violated the maxim of humility, violated the maxim of agreement. Secondly, three forms of violations were found in the principle of cooperation namely speech that violates the maxim of quality, violates the maxim of the relationship, and violates the maxim of the way.
Government officials as public officials must use the Indonesian language in accordance with the principle of politeness and principles of cooperation. The purpose of this study was to express the performance of politeness using the Indonesian language orally by government officials of West Sumatra. The research data were 746 speeches (spoken) of government officials in West Sumatera, Indonesia, namely governor, vice governor, regent, and mayor who still held office in 2017. Data analysis technique was data identification that is determining politeness using Indonesian from the principle aspect of manners and principles of cooperation, data classification, data interpretation, and concluding. The research findings were the performance of the principle of courtesy of officials of West Sumatra is in accordance with the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of praise, the maxim humility, the maxim of agreement, the maxim of sympathy. The findings on the performance of the principle of cooperation of officials of West Sumatra are in accordance with the maxim of quantity and manner, the maxim of quantity, quality, and manner, the maxim of relationships and ways, the maxim of the way. The performance speech of officials of West Sumatra in violation of the principle of cooperation that violates the maxim of quality and method and violate the maxim relationship.
The purpose of this study is three. First, describe the writing skills of exposition text of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang before using discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media. Second, describe the writing skills of exposition text of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang after using discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media. Third, describe the influence of discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media on writing exposition text skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. The sample in this study was class VIII.2 with 29 students. The results of this study are three, namely as follows. First, exposition text writing skills before using the discovery learning learning model assisted by audiovisual media of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang are in almost adequate qualifications with an average value of 53.45. Second, the skill of writing exposition text after using the discovery learning model assisted by audiovisual media of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang is in a qualification of more than enough with an average score of 70.11. Third, based on the t-test, the alternative hypothesis (H_1) is received at a significant level of 95% and the degree of freedom (dk) = n-1 because of tcount> t table, which is 4.79> 1.70. This means that there is a significant influence on the use of discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media on the exposition writing skills of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 25 Padang.
