Children’s vocabulary or verbal linguistics can be improved through several media including the big book. Big book is a learning media that is very easy to understand by early childhood. Big book has the characteristics of short stories, clear sentence patterns, images that have meaning, type and font size clearly read, and the storyline is easy to understand. This certainly makes it easy for early childhood to improve their linguistic verbal. This research is library research. The method used in this study is a philosophical and pedagogical approach that is to analyze more deeply about the application of big book media as an effort to improve verbal linguistics in early childhood. The purpose of this study is to formulate how big book media can improve intelligence of linguistic verbal in early childhood.
The current intensive reading instruction is predominantly teacher-controlled and textbook-bound, finding it challenging for students to take develop of their own learning and to find learning opportunities to practice. Moodle e-learning as one of the selected learning management system will be used to solve these learning problems. This study aims to evidently identify major gaps and the needs of Moodle elearning by the students and lecturer in learning process of intensive reading class. Descriptive method with survey technique was used in this study. In collecting the data, questionnaire distributed for seventyeight students and interviewed five reading lecturers. The result of analysis data revealed that ninety percent of learners need the changes of learning proses of intensive reading by using the smart media such e-learning Moodle, and all of reading lecturers gave positive responds to implement an e-learning to improve their teaching experience. Findings in the present study could be provided as implications for course designers and recommendations for future studies.
The background of this study is due to the low ability of students in writing fairy-tale texts accompanied by personal opinions. This type of research is research and development. The development model in this research is to use a model developed by Thiagarajan, which consists of four stages of development, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of the study show that the developed Fairy Tale Text Learning Model meets the aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness.
Utilizing e-learning with Moodle application has affected the learning process of higher education. To find out whether Moodle application is effective for Intensive Reading Course and to know the contention of students who go into Intensive Reading with Moodle. It is the great significance to know facts that influence the learning process of Intensive Reading with Moodle. The sixty-first semester students of FKIP-UIR English Language education were selected as a sample. This study mixed of qualitative and quantitative methods. Furthermore, this research used two kinds of instruments; questionnaire and interview. The result revealed that the average score of the pre-test is 4.6, while the post-test is 8.9. It shows a serious distinction the score of students' pre-test and post-test of learning by elearning Moodle. Thus, it can be said that the learning process with the Moodle application is very effective. Further, the responses of students are also strengthened positively by the interview, almost all of the students were interested, motivated, and also agreed to use e-learning Moodle in learning Intensive Reading. It is implicated that e-Learning Moodle could be used to improve students reading comprehension. Therefore the researcher ensured e-Learning Moodle could be used in the learning and teaching process in the Intensive Reading Course.
