The article substantiates key components of competitiveness management of educational services in higher education. The research outcomes have allowed identifying the main competitive advantages of educational services, which include the availability of additional educational services, the ability to participate in students' exchange programs in home country and abroad, practical significance, assistance with employment, and reliable material and technical base. In the context of an integrated approach, the article proposes the organizational and economic mechanism for competitiveness management of educational services, which includes institutional support, economic security, social security, as well as technical and regulatory support. In order to solve the problem of inefficient use of financial resources, it is proposed to establish committees at the state level, the members of which will be representatives of the public sector, international community, and other experts in this field.
Russian universities that have bachelors' and masters' programs of “Hotel business” are facing some problems. Firstly, the number of enrollees in “Hotel business” began to decline due to the closure of hotels and the reduction of staff. Secondly, the hotel chains have developed and are successfully using their own training system both for line employees and heads of departments, and on a continuous basis, which will allow them in the future to abandon the universities' education completely. And thirdly, the level of preparedness of university teachers and the laboratories for training does not currently meet the expectations of the hotel industry. As a result, the universities need a development strategy in “Hotel business” education, including contemporary requirements, to remain part remain relevant in the hotel services market. The article proposes not just a strategy, but specific actions broken down into stages for successfully achieving the goals of the strategy.
The paper is dedicated to justifying the prospects for the development of small hotels in modern conditions. It has been found that the Russian Federation demonstrates an example of the rapid development of small hotel business. In some of the country’s regions, progressive trends can be observed, which are associated with an increase in the capacity of the hotel industry related to the attraction of small-sized accommodation facilities to this area. It has been revealed that Saint Petersburg is the undisputed leader in promoting small hotel business. It has been determined that Moscow is another significant representative of the developing small hotel market. Despite an insignificant share of small hotels in the total amount, it is small hotels in Moscow that make up the majority of the newly introduced key count. However, this cannot physically significantly affect the ratio of rooms per thousand capita, which is too low in Moscow.
