Farmer’s social perception is an important factor in the future development of agriculture. Especially the perception of young farmers needs serious attention considering that they are the pioneers of agriculture in the future. This study aims to examine the perceptions of young farmers towards their future and parents’ perceptions of the future of young farmers. The census study involved 151 coffee-farming families with productive-age children who were then interviewed separately. Data analysis using different test, factor analysis, then integrated in socio-spatial. The perception of the group of parents is greatly influenced by how they have strong access to farming, they assume that the activities of this sector require hard work, time consuming, energy and are synonymous with gross and dirty work. This is a precursor to form a social perception that more income is not the main benchmark in determining the social class of the community but rather the type of livelihood. The decision taken by farmer parents for their children is based more on social perceptions that farming work is still considered low in the social strata even though the income generated is in a decent category. In contrast to the perception of parents, young farmers are more optimistic about the future in developing business in agriculture seeing the potential and agricultural resources they have. The perception of young farmers is formed not entirely because of high education, but the ability to access information is a factor forming the perception of groups of young farmers, low education does not correlate with their ability to access information. Based on these results, we conclude that differences in perceptions are present as a result of differences in age backgrounds, perspectives, and characteristics. Poverty that has long ensnared the farming community has changed the social perception of the perspective of the current farming community, so that the perception emerged for farmers that leaving the agricultural sector is the best way to leave poverty. Therefore, it is necessary to launch an agricultural education system into the village, how the education system directly reaches the farming community in the village in order to create a modern agricultural social environment that is business-oriented in the community and family so that it can equate perceptions of the future agricultural business.
Arunachal Pradesh is an agrarian state which is gifted with natural resources and huge scope for agriculture and horticulture sectors. However, farming in Arunachal Pradesh is facing some socio-economic constraints which led to under-utilization of resource bases in the state. To ensure proper utilization of resources and to improve well being of farming community, there is need to adopt suitable farming system which can contribute to livelihood development. Therefore, a study was conducted in Ziro-I and Ziro-II block of Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh during 2019-20 to know the association between personal, socio-economical and psychological characteristics of farmers with their performance in practicing different farming systems. A total of 200 respondents were selected from both blocks; 50 respondents each practicing FS-I, FS-II from Ziro-I block and FS-III, FS-IV from Ziro-II block. The result shows that innovative proneness, risk bearing ability, achievement motivation, decision making ability and management orientation had positive and significant association with performance at one and five per cent level of significance for all four farming systems. The probable reasons for the above findings could be that the farmers as an occupation has to deal with new farming practices and face many challenges such as drought, crop failure, pest attack, and soil infertility. As these experiences increases along with capital investment, their risk bearing ability also increases which may lead to improve performances in their farming. Additionally, to excel in farming practices there should be desire to achieve success in their work by taking timely decisions and performing as a good farm manager.
Agribusiness had a big role in development of agricultural economy transformation to create community prosperity. This research aimed to identify problem and organize coffee agribusiness strategy development in rural area. We study about this case in a rural area with a good potential in Sulawesi Island. We use deep focus discussion approach to the chosen farmers and then we accompanied and observed them for two years. We have finished the preliminary research to build information on village comparative advantage through village potential spatial base as one of approaches in strengthening agribusiness commodity development strategies. In this article, we concluded that agribusiness strategy development of coffee that started from institutional strengthening of coffee farmers, made the corporation base group would be the main buffering power of farmers to strengthen their position in the agribusiness system. By using corporation, the strengthening of farmers was conducted not only in production sector but also in business sector, how to build a strong business network. Strong corporate bargaining position in business chain would stimulate inclusive business. Good inclusive business for farmers when they created a good quality of coffee product therefore it could the stability of market price. The role of government through the regulation strengthening was needed to keep the stability of the inclusive agribusiness system.
