Technological developments provide many alternatives to learning. Edmodo application can be one of the alternatives in learning, one of them as a media to increase reading interest. Teachers’ teaching methods that are less appropriate to be a weak factor reading comprehension. To overcome this problem is used Edmodo-based Whole Language approach. This study aims to determine and describe the role of Edmodo in facilitating the learning process and its implementation to improve reading interest with the Whole Language approach. The object of this research is 25 students of SMA Negeri 2 Sragen, Indonesia. Data collection through observation, document analysis, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that the Edmodo-based Whole Language approach has an excellent role in improving students’ reading and comprehension, seen with the ability to answer questionnaires based on text and discussion activities. Edmodo also provides student facilities to engage cognitively with places to discuss, do quizzes, and express ideas based on readings they have read. Students also responded to Edmodo’s use of reading learning. They consider Edmodo an interesting medium with features of discussion, quizzes, and can share reading material.
Literacy ability helps children learn to read more easily and increase children's success at school. This study aims to describe the use of multimedia technology in literacy learning in kindergarten in Sleman, including (1) Lesson plan, (2) implementing the use of multimedia technology in children's literacy learning, and (3) assessment of children's literacy abilities stimulated using multimedia technology. This research is qualitative. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and document review techniques. The validity of the data is obtained through data triangulation. The data analysis technique was conducted using an interactive model. The results showed that: (1) Lesson plan is adapted to the national curriculum, scientific learning approaches, and learning center models, and integrated with the development of other aspects arranged in semester, weekly and daily programs. (2) Implementation of the use of multimedia technology in literacy learning is implemented in the foothold of learning centers with steps: (a) concentration of attention and focus, (b) orientation, (c) modeling, (d) stage of children's play, and (e) summary. (3) Assessment of children's literacy abilities stimulated using multimedia technology is carried out with observation techniques, the results of assignment work, and anecdotal notes, procedures carried out include recording child development, summarizing notes, and describing in the form of short sentences covering competencies in the national curriculum.
Secara geografis Kabupaten Klaten berada di kaki Gunung Merapi dan pesisir selatan Pulau Jawa. Dilihat dari sisi potensi bencana alam, maka di seluruh wilayah Kabupaten Klaten memiliki potensi terjadinya bencana gempa tektonik dan gempa vulkanik. Melihat potensi bencana di Kabupaten Klaten, maka adanya pelatihan dan konseling dalam meningkatkan sikap tanggap dan mitigasi bencana menjadi hal yang sangat vital untuk dilakukan. Pelatihan dan konseling dilakukan di SD Negeri 2 Gledeg yang berada di daerah potensial III. Sekolah ini dipilih karena berada di antara daerah potensial gempa tektonik dan daerah gempa vulkanik Merapi. Persoalan yang dihadapi mitra adalah belum pernah diadakannya pelatihan dan konseling sikap tanggap dan mitigasi bencana. Kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan yaitu pelatihan tanggap bencana yang diawali dengan sosialisasi jenis bencana, potensi kebencanaan pada wilayah mitra, pelatihan melalui video tanggap bencana, dan simulasi tanggap bencana, pelatihan pertolongan pertama gawat darurat (PPGD). Selain itu, dilakukan konseling untuk memberikan persiapan sebelum terjadinya bencana dan pasca terjadinya bencana. Melalui kegiatan PKM ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mitra terkait tentang sikap tanggap dan mitigasi bencana serta konseling pada korban bencana. Selain itu, juga meningkatkan pemahaman mitra dalam hal pertolongan pertama sehingga terwujudnya masyarakat yang tanggap dan siap siaga dalam menghadapi potensi bencana alam di wilayahnya.
The emergence of COVID-19 has brought significant changes in various sectors in Indonesia, especially in the education sector. One such change was that, to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, the learning method was changed to online learning. This had positive and negative impacts on guidance and counseling students at Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta. The negative impact of online learning was that many students developed academic burnout. The purpose of this research was to verify the effectiveness of stress coping techniques to reduce academic burnout in these students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was experimental research with a one group pretest-posttest design. The results of the paired sample t-test showed that stress coping techniques were effective in reducing academic burnout.
