The notions of dynamic capabilities, intellectual capital, and innovation performance have been examined in many competitive advantage scholarly papers. However, there have been small numbers of management studies that consider the link of dynamic capabilities and intellectual capital in respect of innovation performance. Previous studies tend to argue that dynamic capabilities played a mediator or moderator role on intellectual capital and innovation performance linkage. Therefore, this study seeks to propose a new perspective that dynamic capabilities are the antecedents of intellectual capital leading to innovation performance. Thus, the rationale for this study is to propose a conceptual model and to provide empirical support on the mediator role of intellectual capital in dynamic capabilities and innovation performance linkage. By using accidental and snowballs sampling techniques, this study distributed questionnaires to 297 small and medium enterprises of the garment manufacturing in Indonesia. Partial least square offers the main statistics methodology for data analysis. Results show that dynamic capabilities had a significant influence on intellectual capital and innovation performance. Moreover, intellectual capital partially mediated dynamic capabilities’ influence on innovation performance. Therefore, it is expected that organisations should grow, implement and maintain their dynamic capabilities in order to improve their intellectual capital and innovation outcomes. Lastly, some future studies are suggested.
Objective - This study aims to determine the conditions relating to research culture, research self-efficacy and research productivity at private universities in Riau, Indonesia, to examine the direct and indirect influences among research culture, research self-efficacy and research productivity. Methodology/Technique - A questionnaire was used to obtain responses from lecturers at 12 private universities (with a total of 349 responses). The data collected from the sample was analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) software as the verification method. Findings – The results show that research self-efficacy among lecturers is high. Lecturers have a high research self-efficacy in writing the introduction and method of research, and a high-enough score for a broad view of research, results and discussion, and publication. The last variable is research productivity, which was also grouped in the high-enough category. The quantity dimension has average score of 2.6 which means that it is high-enough, while the scores for the quality dimensions are also high. Research culture, which has eight dimensions, has a direct influence on both research self-efficacy and research productivity. Research self-efficacy also directly influences research productivity. Novelty - This study reveals that research self-efficacy plays an important role in mediating research culture and research productivity variables. Type of Paper - Empirical. The topics of social entrepreneurship have increased considerably time by time. Social entrepreneurship becomes an engaging, specific theme in the field of entrepreneurship research. The purpose of this paper is to analyze how are social entrepreneurship articles classified. Then, to know the trend of social entrepreneurship research, to know which research topics are the subject of more publications, and to analyze future social entrepreneurship topics that provide opportunities for further investigation. There are two journals from leading publishers that specifically offer a publishing platform for social entrepreneurship. There are many articles in these two journals that can specifically give us information about the development of this entrepreneurial topic. The existence of globalization concept absolutely brings consequences for business environment. Based on international literature, cultural orientation was required on business management in the globalization era. Nevertheless, there have been few numbers of cross-cultural entrepreneurship research. Previous research tended to focus on discussing cultural dimensions or using them in entrepreneurship. Therefore, this study proposes a different perspective which is to explore the cultural dimensions for the formation of entrepreneur competencies. Thus, this study aims at suggesting conceptual models and providing empirical evidence concerning national and individual cultural orientation including its role in influencing the formation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) entrepreneur competencies in facing the globalization era. For this purpose, the survey questionnaire was distributed to 129 SMEs entrepreneurs in the fashion sector in West Java – Indonesia, which was then tested by using VSM 1994 Formula, SPSS method and Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The findings and originality of this study were the novelty of national and its individual cultural values for Indonesia. Moreover, this study discovered that Cultural Orientation significantly influenced the form of entrepreneur competencies. Thus, the role of cultural orientation cannot be ignored in enhancing the ability of SMEs entrepreneurs to face the globalization era.
