Setrek adalah jenis kesenian tradisional terbangan atau slawatan yang berfungsi sebagai media dakwah agamaIslam. Sebagai jenis kesenian tradisional slawatan, perpaduan unsur-unsur estetis seni yang bernafaskan Islamdengan unsur-unsur estetis kesenian rakyat tradisional merupakan akulturasi budaya yang mencerminkan bentukkreativitas lokal. Pengaruh seni Islam tidak dimaksudkan untuk merubah wujud keseluruhan koreografi nya, tetapilebih merupakan formalitas nilai Islam dalam wajah kesenian tradisional untuk tujuan dakwah. Oleh karena itubentuk penyajiannya tetap dalam format tradisi dengan sedikit sentuhan nafas Islam. Misalnya penyajian gerak tarihampir tidak dijumpai nafas Islam kecuali gerak takbiratul ihram Allohu Akbar, tokoh Kyai Ba’in yang merupakanrefresentasi seorang ulama dengan tata busana khas Islam, iringan diberi nafas Islam dengan syair-syair kitab AlBarjanzi dilengkapi instrumen terbang dan jidor mewakili musik Islam. Nafas Islam sebenarnya lebih merupakanlegalitas spirit Islam dalam kesenian setrek dengan harapan semua pemain dan penonton dapat mengamalkan agamaIslam dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Oleh karena itu media dakwah dapat dilihat dalam setiap ungkapan nilainilaiajaran Islam berkait dengan Tuhan Allah SWT dan Rosul-Nya Nabi Muhammad SAW. Dengan demikiansetiap gerak dan musik iringan atau syair dalam kesenian setrek harus dijiwai nilai-nilai ajaran Islam. Ikon-ikondemikian penting untuk dipahami agar mereka dapat selamat hidup di dunia dan di akhirat. Kehadiran agama Islamdalam nafas perkembangan kesenian setrek tampak memperkaya penampilannya, sehingga kehadiran kesenian inidalam kehidupan masyarakat semakin menumbuhkan kualitas dalam beragama Islam, meskipun disadari sisa-sisakepercayaan kuno masih mewarnai kesenian setrek, seperti atraksi ndas-ndasan yang berupa atraksi mengimitasibinatang. As a kind of traditional slawatan art, it seems to blend Islamic aestheticelements with aesthetic traditional elements which become a form of cultural acculturation refl ecting the local creativity.The infl uence of Islamic art is not intended to change the overall form of the choreography, but the Islamic elements aremore of Islamic value formality in the form of traditional arts for the purpose of preaching Islam religion. Therefore, theform of presentation remains in the format of Islamic tradition. For example, the presentation of dance movement hardlyfi nds Islam infl uence except takbiratul ihram Allohu Akbar, KyaiBa’in as the representation of Islam priest wearing typicalIslamic outfi t; the music is also Islamic with given poems from Al Barjanzi’s book equipped with terbang and jidor. Islaminfl uence is actually more of a Islamic spirit legacy in setrek art with the hope that all the players and audience can practiceIslam in their daily lives. Therefore, the preaching media of Islam can be seen in any expression of Islamic values in relationto Allah SWT and His diciplesNabi Muhammad SAW. Thus every movement and musical accompaniment or poem insetrek art should be imbued the values of Islam. Icons, thus, are important to understand so that the people can live safelyin this world and in the hereafter. The presence of Islam in the breath of the setrek artistic development looks enriching itsperformance, so the presence of this art among the people living in Kedungan III improves the quality of embracing Islam,although there are the remnants of ancient beliefs which still characterize setrek art, such as ndas-ndasan attraction in theform of imitating animal . Study related to characteristics of costumes worn in Children Creation Dance in kindergarten at Buleleng, Bali is aiming at (1) understanding the characteristics of children creation dance costume in kindergarten at Buleleng, Bali, (2) understanding the aesthetic characteristic of costume of children creation dance in kindergarten at Buleleng, Bali. The research employed qualitative method while the discussion part was presented in descriptive. Data was collected through observation, interview, literature, as well as documentation study. In a general view, characteristic of the costume was still in close proximity to the tradition but some others characteristics have quiet different to the tradition. Aesthetic aspect in dance costume that has adjacency to the tradition is shown in patterned costume, especially the use of kamen prada. The use of colour tends to be bright and cold which may show the atmosphere of happiness and assurance. On the other hand, the characteristics of costume is not traditional tends to emphasize dots and stripes. The impression of dots is shown in the use of sequin while the stripe impession is shown in fabric colour boundaries. In addition, the colours chosen for this type of costume are considerably similar to the colour chosen in traditional costume of creation dance which are bright and cold and give the impression of happiness and assurance.
Drag performance in the cabaret show in Yogyakarta is a modern Indonesian performance which prioritizing cross gender roles. The characteristics of male actors with female attribute, causing negative public responses, where they were expected to behave in accordance of their sex. The expression of the drag song's lyrics is a form of contradiction and fantasy against reality whereas is interesting to study upon. The research based on the data which are consisting informants of cabaret show artists, both from the drag queen, drag effeminate male, and drag transgender. The research data based on its source consists of verbal information from informants, textual information from related documents, and visual information of the "cabaret show" performance. This study utilizes the perspective and approach of cultural studies with a single focused case study model by developing the theory of drag performance [8], and language manners [3]. The validity of the research data was examined by peer debriefing, while the data analysis used the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman [9]. This research obtaining results such as; first, the lyrical expression of the drag's song produces a positive image so that its appearance is attractive, while negative image makes its presence acceptable or not resisted. Second, the complexity of actors as drag queen, drag effeminate male, and drag transgender produces language expression as a form of parody and self-parody as well.
The purpose of this study, to uncover and describe the aesthetic form and function of body painting in Bali in Bali tourism. The Study is designed throgh qualitative research to describe the Body painting show in Bali tourism in terms of postmodern a esthetics. The research location is at the HardRock Hotel Bali. Theoretical approaches to understand the body painting uses studies in popular culture, postmodern aesthetics and commodifi cation. The organized form of body painting HardRock Hotel Balisince 2003 is a creative body painting event on women and performance art, that includes activities of the female body painting art ist fashion shows of the painting accompanied by music. The function of body painting Bali accomodates tourism interests, and it occurs through the commodifi cation of popular culture in the pack includes the function of personal, social, (recreation and appreciation).
