Geometry is one branch of mathematics for high school level, one of which is cone slices which deal with circles, ellipses, parabola, and hyperbole. However, from the data obtained in the last few years from the PUSPENDIK the value of the students' mathematics at the Geometry branch is always lower than the other branches of the mathematics branch. This is what encourages researchers to conduct preliminary research that aims to analyze and describe student learning difficulties in learning geometry. The benefits of this research are a reference for research to develop appropriate mathematics teaching materials and in accordance with the characteristics of geometry. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Methods of data collection are observation, interviews and questionnaires. Analysis of the data used is using the Miles and Huberman models which include: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing / verification. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kemampuan penalaran siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan pada materi teorema pythagoras dengan pengkategorian tingkat kemampuan penalaran matematis tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IX sebanyak 20 orang. Bentuk pengambilan data yaitu pemberian 5 butir soal tes tertulis pada subjek terpilih. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan klasifikasi kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa diperoleh persentase sebesar 33,38% pada indikator membuat generalisasi untuk memperkirakan jawaban dan proses solusi; 20,43% pada indikator melakukan manipulasi matematika; 27,07% pada indikator menggunakan pola dan hubungan untuk menganalisis situasi matematika; dan sebesar 1,63% pada indikator penalaran menarik kesimpulan. Secara keseluruhan didapatkan hasil persentase sebesar 20,63% masuk dalam kriteria rendah.
This study aims to examine whether there is an effect of independent learning on the mathematical reasoning abilities of junior high school students. This research is a quantitative study with a correlational method. The population in this study were all class VIII students at one of the public schools in Karawang Regency for the 2019/2020 academic year with 1 class being selected as the research sample, namely class VIII C. Data collection techniques were obtained using tests in the form of a description of questions regarding reasoning abilities mathematics, and non-tests in the form of independent learning questionnaires, as well as interviews conducted online. Then, the data obtained were analyzed using a simple linear regression test. Based on the results of data processing, the regression equation is obtained, namely Y = 7.50 + 0.35X with a determination coefficient of 79%. Thus, independent learning has a positive influence on the variable mathematical reasoning ability of students by 79%, and 21% is influenced by other factors that are not included in this simple linear regression analysis. Furthermore, obtained a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05, then H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be interpreted that there is a significant influence between independent learning on the mathematical reasoning abilities of junior high school students.
Abstrak Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kombinasi (mixed method) model sequential explanatory. Dalam penelitian ini, metode kuantitatif dilaksanakan terlebih dahulu sebelum metode kualitatif. Metode kuantitatif dilakukan dengan pemberian instrumen tes dan pengolahan data dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Sementara metode kualitatif dilaksanakan dengan melakukan analisis jawaban dari instrumen tes dan wawancara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa pada materi trigonometri. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 13 Kota Bekasi. Adapun yang menjadi subjek pada penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa kelas XI IPA A. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes dan wawancara. Sementara teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah tahapan Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa kelas XI IPS A pada materi trigonometri berada pada kategori baik dengan skor rata-rata sebesar 68,8. Siswa mampu mencapai seluruh indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dengan cukup baik.
Learning mathematics is something that must be done by students because mathematical problem solving ability that obtained from learning process are very necessary in students daily lives. The purpose of this research was to describe mathematical problem solving ability of high school student to solve the linear equations in three variables question. The population of this research was 30 student of 10th grade student of SMA Negeri 1 Klari. The sample of this research was determined by purposive sampling and obtained 6 students with different ability. The data collection was done by giving the test of the mathematical problem solving which had 5 story questions. The result of this research is (1) The student with high problem solving ability could solved the problem given to them though they didn’t check the answers back, (2) The student with medium problem solving ability could also solved the problem given to them though they were not completely understood what was asked on question so mistakes happened at the last part also didn’t check their answers, and (3) The student with low problem solving ability didn’t write down the process as to how they got the answer and also didn’t check back the answer they got. From the results of this research, we know that students mathematical problem solving abilities are still lacking because of that it is necessary to find a way to improve students mathematical problem solving abilities.
