This study aims to describe the ability of higher order thinking students in solving the problem of the concept of optics after given the learning with problem-based learning model. This research uses a descriptive method with quantitative approach. The subjects of the research are students of the second semester of physics education study program, amounting to 19 people. Data collection techniques used are two tier multiple choice shaped test consisting of eight questions include the level of analyzing, evaluating and creating. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the ability of high-level thinking of students in optical learning has enough categories with the following details: (1) The percentage of students who have excellent high-level thinking skills is 15.79%, good category of 31.58%, enough category of 42.11%, and category less than 10.53%; (2) The percentage of student ability in answer about level of analyze equal to 68.42%, student ability in answer about evaluation level 57.89% and equal to 53.51% for student ability in answer level question create. Keywords: higher order thinking, optics, problem-based learning model AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa (higher order thinking) dalam menyelesaikan soal konsep optika setelah diberikan pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu mahasiswa semester II program studi pendidikan fisika yang berjumlah 19 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes berbentuk two tier multiple choice yang terdiri dari delapan soal meliputi tingkatan menganalisis, mengevaluasi dan mencipta. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diketahui bahwa kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran optika memiliki kategori cukup dengan rincian sebagai berikut: (1) Persentase mahasiswa yang memiliki kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi kategori sangat baik adalah sebesar 15,79%, kategori baik sebesar 31,58%, kategori cukup sebesar 42,11%, dan kategori kurang sebesar 10,53%; (2) Persentase kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menjawab soal tingkatan menganalisis sebesar 68,42%, kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menjawab soal tingkatan mengevaluasi sebesar 57,89% dan sebesar 53,51% untuk kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menjawab soal tingkatan mencipta.Kata-kata Kunci: kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi, optika, model problem based learning Naskah
Utility of natural ingredients as traditional medicines is growing with increasing in exploration of the types of natural ingredients that can be used as traditional medicines to prevent and treat a disease. However, the use of inappropriate levels can cause a risk of health problems. One of the ingredients used to treat diabetes is young areca nut which is known by the people of Aceh as Pineung Nyen. Pineung Nyen, which is consumed by the community, is not only in the raw form but also has experienced a process of smoking or disalee. Excessive consumption of Pineung Nyen can cause symptoms of poisoning. For this reason, an analysis is needed to determine the safe limits of concentration that can be consumed without causing side effects. Toxicity tests can be carried out in vivo by using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method which uses Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae as test animals. From the phytochemical test results, it was found that Pineung Nyen Teusalee methanol extract contained flavonoids, tannins and saponins. In addition, the methanol extract of Pineung Nyen Teusalee is toxic with an LC50 value of 347.86 mg / L.
THE EFFECT OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING AND CRITICAL THINKING ON HIGH ORDER THINGKING ABILITY AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning model and critical thinking skills on students' high-order thinking about optical materials. Quasi-experimental method with two-way ANOVA design was used to conduct this study with 34 second semester physic education students of IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Data of students’ higher order thinking ability was obtained from multiple choice test with reason while the data of students' critical thinking ability was measured using multiple choice test. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) there is an influence of the problem based learning model on high student's thinking ability, (2) there is an influence of high critical thinking ability and low critical thinking ability on high student's thinking ability and (3) the interaction between the application of problem based learning model with the ability to think critically to the students' high level of thinking ability. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model problem based learning, keterampilan berpikir kritis dan interaksinya terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa pada materi optika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu dengan desain two way ANOVA. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di IKIP PGRI Pontianak pada mahasiswa semester II program studi pendidikan fisika sebanyak 34 orang mahasiswa. Data kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa diperoleh dengan menggunakan tes pilihan ganda dengan alasan sedangkan data kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa diukur dengan menggunakan tes berbentuk multiple choice. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) terdapat pengaruh penerapan model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa, (2) terdapat pengaruh kemampuan berpikir kritis tinggi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis rendah terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa dan (3) terdapat interaksi antara penerapan model problem based learning dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa.
TRAINING ON MAKING ICT-BASED PHYSICS LEARNING MEDIA FOR TEACHERS IN BENGKAYANG REGENCY, WEST KALIMANTAN. Improving learning quality is a crucial factor in the implementation of learning in schools to colleges. ICT contributes greatly to the dissemination of information materials to the world. It is one of the foundations of how important it’s to introduce and train teachers on the border to be proficient in information and communication technologies. The purpose of this activity is to train physics teachers in Bengkayang Regency to make ICT-based physics learning media. The goal of this dedication is teachers of physics that are incorporated in the MGMP Physics Regency of Bengkayang, West Kalimantan. The activity is located at SMAN 1 Bengkayang. This activity starts from the preparation phase of the situation analysis and problem of the partner and administration and coordination management with partners. Furthermore, at the stage of implementation of activities conducted is to provide mentoring to the partners through the training activities of ICT-based physics learning media generation. Steps at this stage include the introduction of ICT-based learning media, ICT-based physics media-making workshops and worksheet-making workshops as complementary media usage. The final stage is the evaluation of measuring the level of understanding and skills of participants after taking the training obtained from pretest, postest and observation sheet and designing the sustainability of the training program. From PKM activities that have been conducted, the planning and utilization training of ICT-based media learning for physics teachers in Bengkayang Regency, it can be concluded that the resource capacity is the teacher has increased. It is characterized by increased understanding of teachers about ICT-based learning media that can be used in teaching physics. In addition, teachers have been able to use Phet Simulation media and have been able to create Android applications on the concept of physics.
Tofu is one of the favorite foods of Indonesian people. Tofu processing has been carried out in several home industries in West Aceh Subdistrict. This community engagement program focused on the tofu home industry starting from a survey and mapping of the business condition followed by training and supervision activity. This training was given to tofu home industry owners and their workers. This training and supervision aimed to improve partners' knowledge and understanding about the importance of applying personal hygiene to the workers. Increased knowledge will in turn raise the awareness and motivation of the workers to apply personal hygiene procedures in tofu processing.
