The objective of this study was to select three strains of probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae and to evaluate the effect of S. cerevisiae and rumen bacteria isolate (MR4) supplementation and their combination on rumen fermentability and rumen microbial population. Experiment 1 was designed in a 4 x 5 factorial randomized block design with 3 replications. The first factor was S. cerevisiae strain consisted of control treatment (without S. cerevisiae supplementation), NBRC 10217, NRRL Y 567 and NRRL 12618, and the second factor was incubation time consisted of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 h. Ration was basal ration for feedlot with forage to concentrate ratio (F:C)= 60:40. Dosage of each treatment with S. cerevisiae was 5 x 10 10 cfu/kg ration. Experiment 2 was designed in randomized block design with 4 treatments: P0= basal ration of feedlot; P1= P0 + S. cerevisiae; P2= P0 + MR4 isolate (5 x 10 7 cfu/kg ration); P3= P0 + S. cerevisiae and MR4 isolate. The result of experiment 1 showed that supplementation of S. cerevisiae NRRL 12618 had the highest S. cerevisiae population and increased rumen bacterial population. This strain was selected as probiotic in experiment 2. The result from experiment 2 showed that probiotic supplementation stabilized rumen pH and produced the highest NH 3 concentration (P<0.05) and bacterial population (P<0.05). As compared with control, all treatments reduced protozoa population (P<0.05). Combination of S. cerevisiae and MR4 probiotics produced the highest total volatile fatty acids (VFA) and isovalerate (P<0.05). It was concluded that strain S. cerevisiae NRRL 12618 had potential as probiotic yeast. Supplementation with this strain increased fermentability, rumen isoacid and decreased A:P ratio. Supplementation of Bioplus probiotic is the feeding strategy that can be applied to optimize sheep production in Kaso Village, Tambaksari District, Ciamis. Bioplus contains rumen microorganism that play a role in rumen digestion process. The aim of the study were to analyze the supplementation of Bioplus probiotic on production performance of sheep and to analyze the feasibility of feedlot sheep in Kaso village. The treatment consist of two treatment P0 = control and P1 = control + rice brand + Bioplus probiotic 1 doze (150 g). The variable measured such us average daily gain, dry matter (DM) intake, ration efficiency, income over feed cost (IOFC). The Feasibility variable measured such us R/C ratio, B/C ratio, BEP price and BEP production. The Data were analyzed using independence t-test and descriptive analysis for feasibility variables. The results of the study showed that there was an effect on average daily gain, ration efficiency and IOFC (P<0,05) but did not effect on DM intake (P>0.05). The results of the feasibility analysis show that there is an increase in income, the B/C ratio increases with the addition of probiotics and the R/C ratio P1 is higher and most feasible. Price BEP and production BEP P1 are better than P0. Thus, the supplementation of Bioplus probiotic was able to increase the production performance and income of sheep farmers in Kaso Village.
The population of sheep in Kaso Village, Tambaksari District is still very low compared to the average number of needs each year. One of the feed manipulation techniques that can be done is by giving Bioplus probiotics. This study aims to analyze the increase in knowledge and skills of farmers on the provision of Bioplus probiotics. This study aims to analyze the improvement of farmers' knowledge and skills on the provision of Bioplus probiotics The extension technique used uses a combination of media and extension methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations of methods, and applied studies and is combined with powerpoint media and posters. The instrument used is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability using SPSS version 21. The counseling respondents consisted of 30 members of KWT Sauyunan. The evaluation of the extension was analyzed using the Padmowiharjo formula (1999). The results of the extension evaluation show the criteria of Success for the knowledge aspect and Fairly Successful in the skill aspect. Thus the extension of the provision of Bioplus probiotics to sheep is able to increase the knowledge and skills of members of the women's farmer group.
Pakan alternatif dapat menekan biaya pakan sehingga dapat memberikan keuntungan ganda bagi peternak. Salah satu pakan alternatif untuk pakan ayam yaitu maggot lalat Black Soldier Fly (BSF) karena kandungan protein tinggi terkandung di dalamnya. Maggot BSF dapat mengurai limbah organik seperti kulit nanas yang masih belum termanfaatkan di Desa Sanca Kecamatan Ciater Kabupaten Subang. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh media limbah kulit nanas terhadap pertumbuhan maggot BSF dan menganalisis keuntungan pembesaran maggot BSF menggunakan media kulit nanas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode 2 kelompok percobaan dengan 5 ulangan terdiri atas P0=50% kulit nanas+50% dedak padi+0,25% molases. P1=75% kulit nanas+25% dedak padi+0,25% molases. Peubah yang diukur diantaranya suhu (oC) media penetasan setelah difermentasi, lama penetasan, panjang maggot (mm), dan berat panen (g). Peubah kelayakan usaha yang diamati yaitu R/C ratio, B/C ratio, break even point (BEP) harga dan BEP produksi. Data dianalsisis menggunakan uji-t tidak berpasangan dan dianalisis deskriptif untuk peubah kelayakan usaha. Hasil penelitian menunjukan perbedaan komposisi kulit nanas dalam media penetasan dan media pembesaran maggot tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadah suhu, lama penetasan, dan berat panen, tetapi memberikan pengaruh nyata pada panjang maggot umur 16 hari. Hasil analisis kelayakan usaha menunjukan hanya perlakuan P1 yang layak untuk dijalankan karena memiliki nilai R/C ratio>1, sedangkan P0 tidak layak karena nilai R/C ratio<1. Kulit nanas dapat digunakan sebagai media penetasan dan pembesaran maggot BSF. Penggunaan kulit nanas sampai 75% mampu meningkatkan hasil panen maggot BSF.
Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam pemanfaatan silase kulit nanas. Penyuluhan dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode kaji terap, ceramah, anjangsana, demonstrasi dan diskusi kemudian dianalisis aspek pengetahuan dan keterampilan melalui penyebaran kuesioner pre test dan post test. Sasaran penyuluhan pada anggota kelompoktani Laksana Jaya sebanyak 30 anggota kelompoktani. Materi penyuluhan berupa pengenalan silase, pembuatan silase kulit nanas dan agribisnis ternak domba. Instrumen dilakukan pengujian validitas dan reliabilitas. Hasil pengukuran pengetahuan peternak dalam memanfaatkan teknologi silase pada kelompoktani Laksana Jaya menunjukkan skor 38,96 dengan kriteria cukup berhasil sedangkan pada aspek keterampilan menunjukkan skor 50% dengan kriteria cukup berhasil. Kesimpulannya yaitu meningkatnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani dalam pemanfaatan kulit nanas sebagai silase pakan ternak.
