Individual dispositions and personal factors play a role in determining the strategy to cope with mental health problems. Individuals with type A personality often show greater effort to improve their condition when experiencing stress. The study used 75 participants all gained through convenience sample ages 18-35 years old most of whom were university students in Kupang. The study used the General Help-Seeking Questionnaire (GHSQ), Ways of Coping, and stress-prone type A personality test to investigate different coping strategies of individuals with type A personality when seeking help for mental health problems. Data analysis using Pearson's product-moment correlation shows significant findings to support hypotheses that coping strategies are related to certain help-seeking behavior in individuals with type A personality (p=<0.05; 2-tailed). The awareness of important roles of personality tendencies when seeking help for mental health problems will impact on matters related to stress-reduction efforts to achieve mental health and well-being.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of moral development on prosocial behavior in students grade VIII in SMP Negeri"X" at Kota Kupang. This is a quantitative research. The research’s population was all students grade VIII in SMP Negeri "X" at Kota Kupang with the total amount of 352 students. A sample of 78 students was taken by cluster random sampling technique. Instruments data collection were the scale of moral development and the scale of prosocial behavior. The data analysis technique was simple linear regression.Correlation analysis results show significant positive correlation between moral development and prosocial behavior with R = 0.568.. Simple linear regression analysis was performed to predict prosocial behavior based on moral development (F=36,188, p = 0.000 (<0.05) with coefficient determination R2 = 0.323, which means that the influence of moral development on prosocial behavior in students grade VIII in SMP Negeri "X" at Kota Kupang is 32.3%. This study shows the level of moral development in students grade VIII in SMP Negeri "X" at Kota Kupang is categorized as high at the level of 43.7% while at the same time the level of prosocial behavior is also in the high category at the level of 39.7%. The increased level of moral development relates to the higher level of prosocial behavior in adolescents. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri “X” Kota Kupang berjumlah 352 siswa. Sampel berjumlah 78 siswa diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah skala perkembangan moral dan skala perilaku prososial. Teknik analisis data adalah regresi linear sederhana. Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan antara perkembangan moral dan perilaku prososial dengan nilai R = 0,568. Analisis regresi linear sederhana dilakukan untuk memprediksi perilaku prososial berdasarkan perkembangan moral (F = 36,188, p = 0,000 (< 0,05) dengan nilai koefisien determinasi R2= 0,323. Artinya pengaruh perkembangan moral terhadap perilaku prososial siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri “X” Kota Kupang sebesar 32,3%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan tingkat perkembangan moral siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri "X" di Kota Kupang dikategorikan tinggi pada level 43,7%, sementara itu pada saat yang sama tingkat perilaku prososial juga berada pada kategori tinggi pada level 39,7%. Semakin tinggi perkembangan moral semakin meningkat pula perilaku prososial remaja. Kata Kunci: Perkembangan Moral, Perilaku Prososial.
One of the recommendations which is principle regarding cases of violence against children is that all violence against children can be prevented and countries should invest in evidence-based policies and programs to address the factors that lead to violence against children. By means of psychoeducation for young parents who are in the early years of marriage (0-10 years), this community service activity is aimed at preventing and deal with violence against children. This activity was held at the Gedung Pramuka, Oesapa Village, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City. Forty-one parents in Kupang City participated in this community service activity. In this community service activity, 23 participants who are in the early years of marriage became research participants. The community service is carried out by providing psychoeducational materials about the prevention and handling of violence against children, while the research is carried out using an experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The result of hypothesis testing indicates that psychoeducational activity to prevent violence against children have a positive effect on the understanding of young parents in Kupang City. ABSTRAK: Salah satu rekomendasi yang merupakan prinsip terkait kasus kekerasan pada anak adalah semua kekerasan terhadap anak dapat dicegah dan negara-negara harus berinvestasi dalam kebijakan dan program berbasis bukti untuk mengatasi faktor-faktor yang menimbulkan kekerasan terhadap anak. Melalui psikoedukasi bagi orang tua muda yang berada pada tahap tahun-tahun awal pernikahan (0-10 tahun), kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ditujukan untuk mencegah dan menangani kekerasan terhadap anak. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan di Gedung Pramuka, Kelurahan Oesapa, Kecamatan Kelapa Lima, Kota Kupang. Empat puluh satu orang tua di Kota Kupang berpartisipasi sebagai peserta kegiatan pengabdian. Dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, selanjutnya sebanyak 23 orang peserta yang berada pada tahap tahun-tahun awal pernikahan menjadi partisipan penelitian. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan memberikan materi psikoedukasi tentang pencegahan dan penanganan kekerasan terhadap anak, sedangkan penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen dengan menggunakan one-group pretest-posttest design. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan psikoedukasi pencegahan kekerasan terhadap anak berpengaruh positif pada pemahaman pasangan orang tua muda di Kota Kupang.
