Abstract: This purpose of this research is developing mathematics teaching materials that present in comics for student in grade seventh of junior high school. Using teaching materials in the learning process is one way to help the students to be understand about learning materials. The teaching materials that provided for students must have three criterias are valid, practical, and effective. The type of this research is the Research and Development (R and D) and using the Plomp development model. This research consist of investigation phase, development or prototype phase, and assessment phase. The results of this development research are: (1) The validity of the teaching materials are valid with a percentage 90% on the material aspect and the material Design (2) practicality of teaching materials based on the response of teachers and students are Practice with percentage 83.5% (3) The effectivity of teaching materials are effective based on communication skills of students with a percentage of 73%.
High Order Thinking Skill or HOTS should be had by the students to improve students thinking skills at a higher level are continued in curriculum 2013. The purpose of this study to determine the ability to solve student problems in working on the problem type Higher Order Thinkimg Skills (HOTS). By working on the Higher Order Thinking Skills questions, students will reach the levels of mathematical ability from the lowest level to the highest level. The type of this research is qualitative research with natural setting. Data collection using observation, test, and interview methods. The results of this study obtained the conclusion that students in solving problems using Polya step, can meet the indicators analyze, create, and evaluate.
The object of mathematics is abstract, so that the math teacher must compose abstract mathematical objects to be easy learning for students. Solving this problem, experience through real objects (concrete) such as props is required. Using props, students can see, feel, and think directly about the object after they learn so that the abstract concept being studied can settle, cling, and last in the student's mind. This devotion aims to provide the ability to think mathematics creatively and develop a favourable attitude towards mathematical thinking. The methods of this devotional activity are lectures, Q&A and discussions. The results obtained after doing this activity have an impact on students' understanding. Students who understand the materials taught faster and then teachers are also more creative in utilizing used materials to learn media. Teachers do not have to spend much money to make an attractive prop
The research was distributed by the low yield learning math grade VII MTI Tarusan Kamang can be seen from the average value of the first semester . Was caused by less-active students in doing the exercises given by the teacher. Therefore to enhance student learning outcomes in this study, researchers used the methods of drill that varied with the method of discussion. Formulation of the problem in this research is whether learning outcomes students use the drill method varied with the method of discussion is better than learning outcomes on the mathematical subjects in grades VII MTI Tarusan Kamang. The hypothesis of this research is the result of learning to use the drill method varied with the method of discussion is better than learning outcomes on the subjects of mathematics Class VII Tarusan Kamang. The purpose of this research is to know whether the results of student learning using the drill method varied with the method of discussion is better than learning outcomes on the subjects of mathematics grade VII Tarusan Kamang. Based on the results of the analysis of test score results of mathematics students in the second grade of the sample, obtained an average classroom experiment = 79.875 S = 9,3198 and class = control 71.5625 S = 7.3990 and L 0.213 = table is obtained. It can be concluded that the results of a study using the method of drill that varied with the method diskuis is better than learning outcomes.
