Palabras clave: cultura, premisas, normas, creencias, etnopsicologíaThe study of cultures involves researching the concepts of beliefs and norms in order to reveal the content of the rules that coordinate human behavior, a task often pursued through an approach based on psycho-socio-cultural premises (PSCP; Díaz-Guerrero, 2002). The basis of the ethnopsychology of Mexicans is formed by the original premises of the family (Díaz-Guerrero, 1994), which lack norms or beliefs to regulate the behavior of couples, the current gender situation, or aspects of postmodern life. The goal of the present study was to investigate PSCPs in a manner that would include norms and beliefs. In order to do this, items were taken from 4 inventories and administered to a non probabilistic purposive sample of 1624 men and women of various educational levels, living in 6 different regions of Mexico. The analysis of variance and the correlation analysis (r) conducted reveal the predominance of sexism, machismo and marianismo, which are indicative of a stronger attachment to the culture in people belonging to more traditional ecosystems, basically people with lower education and males.
Introduction: perceived social support (PSS) is considered an important factor to lessen the negative effects of stressful events. Likewise, the literature suggests a beneficial impact on the evolution of different diseases. However, little is known about the relationship between PSS and treatment completion in methamphetamine-dependent individuals who receive help in a forced manner. Objective: to evaluate the effect of perceived social support (PSS) on treatment completion in methamphetamine-dependent individuals. Methods: prospective study with a cohort of 67 men on whom PSS, addiction severity, anxiety, and depression were assessed. Results: analysis of variance of prospectively obtained data showed that age, years of drug use, and PSS differed between those who completed the treatment and those who did not. Logistic regression analysis showed that increases in PSS (Odds Ratio, OR = .970, Confidence Interval - CI 95 % = .943 - .999) were predictive of a decrease in the probability of completing the treatment, while age had the opposite effect (OR = 1.117, CI 95 % = .1.027 - 1.215). Discussion and conclusion: these results show that the role of social support in the treatment of chronic conditions is complex and suggest the need to study the nature and quality of the social interactions that lead to therapeutic success.
In some industries such as logistics services, bank services, and others, the use of automated systems that deliver critical business information anytime and anywhere play an important role in the decision making process. This paper introduces a "Generic model to send secure alerts and notifications", which operates as a middleware between enterprise data sources and its mobile users. This model uses Short Message Service (SMS) as its main mobile messaging technology, however is open to use new types of messaging technologies. Our model is interoperable with existing information systems, it can store any kind of information about alerts or notifications at different levels of granularity, it offers different types of notifications (as an alert when critical business problems occur, as a notification in a periodical basis or as 2 way query). Notification rules can be customized by final users according to their preferences. The model provides a security framework in the cases where information requires confidentiality, it is extensible to existing and new messaging technologies (like e-mail, MMS, etc). It is a platform, mobile operator and hardware independent. Currently, our solution is being used at the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (Mexico's utility company) to deliver secure alerts related to criticaleventsregisteredinthemainpowergenerationplantsofourcountry.
This experience report is part of the call for extension programs subsidies of the Faculty of Dentistry, UN of Córdoba in 2013, stimulating the participation of teachers and students of the career in University Extension activities by linking with the JJ Puente Hospital community. The project carried out was aimed at addressing the health process-disease in oral health of the elderly, promoting their social integration in the plot of their community, through the interaction that developed between the members of the health team and adults older valid auto residents in the hospital. Work was carried out through the training of the JJ Puente Hospital health team in the promotion, protection and care of oral health of the elderly residents, strengthening the communication tools that allowed the development of a socio-sanitary diagnosis and assessment of the state of health Oral of the recipients to finally perform the evaluation of the process and products. We consider that the realization of this work allowed a fruitful encounter between university and community from an implication in the daily life of sectors in a situation of social vulnerability, recovering knowledge, experiences and building knowledge from the subjects' own reality.
