This study addresses the support towards the policy of ICT implementation in public secondary schools from the local education authorities (LEAs) as part of society capacity, in case of Kepulauan Riau province, Indonesia. The study involves three sub themes; local policy support, management program, and partnership. Therefore, the researcher qualitatively gathered the data through semi-structured interview from a number of local government stake holders; education commission legislator, the head of education office, and Baltekomdik (Education-Communication Technology Center) office as his participant. The result findings confirm previous researches that government capacity as external support have serious influence for the successfulness of national policy implementation of ICT integration in education in Kepulauan Riau province. Therefore, three sub themes found; local policy, management programs, and partnership should seriously and continually be restructured and innovated.
The purpose of our study was to explore students’ use of metacognitive skills during problem posing activities. This qualitative research explored the metacognitive skill of 21 secondary school students in a rural Anambas Indonesia while posing individually mathematical problems. Thinking-Aloud protocol was conducted during the problem posing activities. The audio recordings of Thinking-Aloud protocol for the students provided the data to address this question. Analysis of their written work and Thinking-Aloud protocols provided evidence of how students used metacognitive skills while problem posing and revealed different levels of these skills. Analyses of the Thinking-Aloud protocol also provided evidence for the metacognitive skills associated with planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The students used planning and monitoring skills equally. Furthermore, different levels of sophistication of planning were apparent. Students who combined these metacognitive skills demonstrated a higher level of monitoring. However, from our analyses that there was considerable overlap in the metacognitive activities associated with monitoring and evaluation.
The purpose of this study is to examine or reveal about the symbols and meanings of the symbols contained in the healing spell. The theory used in this research is the semiotic theory of the signifier and the signified and the symbol theory which analyzes the object representing a symbol. The method used is descriptive qualitative method, namely interviews with five informants as resource persons for spells which are solely to describe empirical facts or language phenomena that exist in life. The results of this study indicate that the symbols contained in the healing mantra are Tuan Putri seven, one hundred and ninety, kantan and reed, twigs, bidara leaves, iron chests, light of Allah, light of Muhammad, Hati tik Hati, points of heavy rain falling, rising and falling. laughter, betel nut, I'm elephant Ali's eyes stretched a few bones. etc.
This research intended to design a Microblog on Instagram as interactive learning media to learn the descriptive text for Grade 7. The media designed to assist students comprehend in English learning, especially descriptive text. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 16 Tanjungpinang for the academic year 2021/2022 on class VII E, which consisted of 38 students. This research was Research and Development (R&D). The development model was Thiagarajan model which are 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Moreover, this research was limited to Develop stage. The instrument to collect the data was several questionnaires which consist of validation questionnaire and student practicality questionnaire. The results of data analysis revealed that the score of media validation is 86% with "very good/very valid" and the score of material validation is 90% with "very good/very valid". Thus, the score of the media trial to observe the practicality of the media is 80% with "practical". The Microblog on Instagram as Interactive Learning Media was valid and proper to use for learning and advantageous for students to comprehend English learning materials, especially on descriptive text.
This study aimed to find out English pre-service teachers’ perception on PLP program in 2020. Descriptive qualitative is a research design for this research. An object of this research is the PLP program implemented by Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji in 2020. The data was taken from the ninth semester consisting 37 students by using purposive sampling. The instrument for collecting data are open-ended and close-ended questionnaires. The result of the study showed that the participants are following all of the PLP program’s requirements. However, there are certain program demands that are not met in a pandemic situation in accordance with the program’s objective.
