This study attempted to investigate how individual differences with regard to attitude and motivation are correlated in language learning. The participants in this study consisted of 75 students of a university in Indonesia who have been learning Lampungese language, a local language, since Elementary School. The data of attitude and motivation, which were collected through questionnaires, were analyzed by undertaking correlation analyses. The findings show that attitude and motivation was significantly correlated. Sebagai salah satu bagian sastra lama, Legenda Serunting Sakti banyak menyajikan konflik tokoh di dalamnya. Konflik menjadi salah satu bagian penting di dalam menciptakan keutuhan dan kepaduan makna cerita. Kajian ini bertujuan menggambarkan wujud konflik tokoh utama, faktor penyebab konflik tokoh utama, dan upaya penyelesaian konflik tokoh utama dalam Legenda Serunting Sakti. Kajian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik baca-catat dan dianalisis menggunakan metode interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh utama dalam Legenda Serunting Sakti mengalami berbagai konflik yang sangat beragam. Wujud konflik yang dimaksud meliputi konflik internal dan konflik eksternal. Konflik tersebut dilatarbelakangi oleh perbedaan kepentingan, perbedaan kebudayaan, dan perbedaan pola pikir antara individu-individu. Untuk menghilangkan atau setidaknya meredam konflik, Serunting Sakti selaku tokoh utama melakukan beberapa upaya, yaitu dengan cara mendekati orang lain, melawan orang lain, dan menjauhi orang lain.
A language is a communication tool used by humans to exchange information between individuals, both in the form of ideas, feelings, and emotions. Every communication process carried out by humans produces speech acts. This study aimed to describe the communication function and strategy for realizing directive speech acts in the collection of short stories Pandawa Kurawa by Agus Hiplunudin. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a pragmatic theory approach. The data source was a collection of Pandawa Kurawa short stories by Agus Hiplunudin. The data was collected through a reading-note technique which was then analyzed descriptively. The research data analysis was carried out by identifying the data, reducing the data, presenting the data, interpreting the data, and concluding the interpretation results. The results showed that the collection of Pandawa Kurawa short stories by Agus Hiplunudin contains a variety of communication functions and strategies for the realization of directive speech acts. The directive speech act was found in communication functions including advising, asking, demanding, ordering, forcing, suggesting, challenging, complaining, encouraging, and asking. Further, the strategies used to realize directive speech acts include a speech strategy without small talk, a speech strategy with positive politeness, and a speech strategy with negative politeness.
Love and self-esteem can be fulfiled by the teacher through teachers’ directive speech act strategy (TDSAS). Teachers need to use teachers’ directive speech act strategy to make the students feel loved and respected and emerge the students’ positive affective color response (SPACR) which creates a fun, effective and conducive learning process. Some verbal abuses made by the teachers affect the students’ psychology (inferiority, trauma, laziness, and has no motivation to come to school). This study aimed to portray the Indonesian language learning in junior high school using TDSAS-SPACR with a synectics model to improve the quality of the process and learning outcomes. Using the descriptive-qualitative method, the results showed that the TDSAS based learning which emerges SPACR creates an effective and fun Indonesian language learning in junior high school.
Pesantren sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam tertua di Indonesia memiliki berbagai peran dan ciri khas yang mengakar hingga saat ini. Sebagian besar peran dan kekhasan pesantren tersebut terpotret dalam kumpulan cerpen pesantren Ludah Surga. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkapkan dunia pesantren dalam kumpulan cerpen pesantren Ludah Surga suntingan Daroini. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berwujud kutipan kalimat dan dikumpulkan melalui teknik baca-catat. Adapun teknik analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dunia pesantren yang terpotret dalam kumpulan cerpen pesantren Ludah Surga sangat beragam dan kompleks. Pesantren sebagai sebuah sistem pendidikan tradisional dibangun oleh lima unsur utama, yaitu kiai, santri, pondok/asrama, masjid/musala, dan kitab kuning. Relasi antar-unsur tersebut melahirkan beragam tradisi khas pesantren yang luhur, seperti rihlah ilmiah, pendalaman ilmu agama Islam, menghafal kitab, pembacaan maulid nabi, tabaruk, hingga laku tirakat. Pengamalan terhadap tradisi-tradisi tersebut pada akhirnya membentuk sikap hidup para santri yang berkarakter, sabar, saleh, mandiri, dan disiplin.
